Default Filling the gap...

well as most of you know the ED flacon Gli's came out the a factory 8" sub in the parcel shelf.
when i baught my car the sub in mine was rat ***** and we took it out....
now i've got some spare time and spare cash on the side and was wondering what i should do.... the 2 option i have are.....

1. buy an aftermarket 8" to run off its own amp..???

OR

2. buy an 8" port to let in some bass from the boot install...???

im heading more towards the 8" just to get that extra bit of bass in the cabin but still not 100% sure..
whats your thoughts?

cheers troy

Buy two 12inch or One 15in and put it in a box!!
I would have thought a sub in the parcel shelf would rattle way too much!

Just put in an 8" port, I'm not sure how mell they work in the parcel shelf, I'd like to know if there worth doing, I put the rear seat down all the time to let the bass through, its amazing how much of a difference it makes.

My car has the stock 8" sub in the parcel shelf with the stock alpine sound system and altough i rekon it sounds awesome for a standard system the 8" sub in the parcel shelf rattles its *** off under big amounts of bass! and its screwd in tight as can be!

you could try taking it out and putting some padding in around where it makes ocntact to anything to take away the vibrations.

Get some dynamat for the parcle shelf. I picked it up for $30 a sheet at an install place, and 1 sheet should do the shelf without any dramas.

arent the 4 12inch subs in your boot producing enough bass? if its not then there is something seriously wrong with your setup. why on earth would you bother with a crappy 8 inch in the parcel shelf...im confused...

and yeah unless your car had premium sound optioned or was a ghia/fairlane/ltd then they dont get an 8 inch sub from factory. someone may have put one in at some stage.

I kow you could upgrade the rear speakers for the GL, but I didn't know they had subs, unless the OPs ED came with premium sound?

i had an 8 inch jaycar sub in my eb and combined with a decent pair of 6x9's you should have plenty of bass. my sub was in a custom console/ sub box on the back seat and when a song with some good bass was played i could get the rear number plate to buzz like a much larger sub setup would

well it was a factory ford sub had the ford stamp on the bottom of it.. so maybe the previous owners put it in themselves..........

and yeah the 4 subs are putting out plenty of bass but you cant have enough bass....
and plus i dont like the look of my parcel shelf... and i just wanted to add a few extra DB for the comps..

cheers troy

seriously dont bother with an 8", it wont even be heard over 4 12"s. Waste of money and effort. Just put a port in their if you want.
