Default Sound System

Just a thread to see what kinda gear people are running and how hektik it sounds!

At the moment Im running JVC headunit, pioneer 6" splits in the front (bullet series) , kenwood 6x9s powered by a cheapo boss amp : and 1 kicker L7 12" solobaric (thanks dan :P) running off a Response monoblock. All up it sounds pretty good I reckon but could be a LOT better with a decent tune. I used to have 2 Boss 15" subs but got rid of them in favour of the kicker and I wont be looking back any time soon. I just want another L7

I have as follows

HU - pioneer
FS - MB Quartz 6.5" splits
RS - Clarion Pro Audio 6.5" splits
Sub - 15" clarion in sealed box
Amps - Calrion 4*100
Power Accoustic 2*150

pretty basic setup the only thing I want to change is the amp for the sub otherwise I'm very happy with it on the odd occasions that I actually turn it up/on

Despite being 33, I sill can't not have a stereo.. (cept nowadays i would turn it down a bit at the lights!!

So, alpine line to rca converter (BAs suck a bit for stereo)
RF Mono block 300rms amp for subs
Clarion 4 channel for mid/tweet
2 x 12 RF series 2 subs in a sealed box tucked behind seat.
upgraded fronts, standard rears.

Considering a deck replacement if I can make it look nice enough.

Only a Clarion USB HU for now. How's everyone liking those response speakers? Quality and prices look pretty good.

Factory Styles FTW
250W Premium sound.
JVC front splits.
Rear splits
Factory sub
Factory ///Alpine Amp
Factory ///Alpine 6 Stacker.

It doesn't sound bad for what it is, but compared with a decent aftermarket system it's pretty crap.

i thought your system would be good compared to aftermarket systems cause isn't alpine the best brand for car audio?

well i dunno i havent had any experience with car audio but it seems everyone on these forums gives alpine the thumbs up...it may not be a rockford fosgate but according to most ppl on the forums alpine's better than the mainstream brands like sony, pioneer, kenwood, jbl clarion, jvc, boss etc

dont get me wrong Alpine is a good brand, but its very over priced for wat it is. If your going to spend the money on Alpine you might aswell save that lil bit extra and get something on the next level of car audio eg. Soundstream, Focal, Rockford Fosgate....... well thats wat i think at least and i dont like alpine :P

I'm running a combo at the moment:

Head Unit - JVC
Front - Factory Alpine splits
Rear - Kenwood 6" 3 way
Sub - Pioneer 10"
Amp - Factory premium unit (just runs sub)

I'm upgrading in the near future and am looking at the following:

Head Unit - Kenwood KDCMP6533
Front - JL Audio 6" splits
Rear - JL Audio 6" 2 way (or JL Audio 6x9 3 way)
Sub - Pioneer 10" To be upgraded later on
Amp 1 - JL Audio A4300 (Cabin speakers)
Amp - Factory premium unit (Sub) To be upgraded later on

Much like Sony :gren: stuff.....sells mostly due to advertising, and the ricers think it looks "KEWL!" (or should that be "Foolie Shick Mayte")
