Default Look what I bought



I just picked up an EA T5 from NC_Steve for $500. It's got all the important parts except for the ECU. EA auto ECUs work, but I'll try to get a manual one for it. I'll probably also use the auto pedal box, with a clutch pin, because swapping pedal boxes is a huge job. Finally some more mods!

very nice...swapping pedal cradles arnt that bad, i never had to take the dash out....
best thing is to get a nice reinforced box from a wreckers as there pritty prone to colapsing and cracking.....jarv

good stuff dezza, should make an awesome differance to acceleration. When is it going to be installed ? and you're right you don't need a new ECU. Swapping the pedal box isn't that hard and it will save you $100 on buying the pin thingy.

Fair enough. I'll have to get people to help as I have no idea about how to swap it over. I might have something like Shaun's CFI-MPI swap, which means I'll probably do all the work while everyone else sit around ****ed. I'll sort out my oil leak first. My timing case seems to be leaking, so there goes my suspension lowering fund :(

Nah, I won't sell it! It seems to be vinyl or something. It is custom made. It isn't an EB GT boot. I just hope this will fit on my console, because from what I remember the 4 lugs that hold it down seem to be at a different spot to the corresponding holes in the console. I might check later on

EDIT: I checked and I remembered wrong. It'll swap over no problems

I'm sure I will. My parents have an EBII 5 speed wagon, which I learnt to drive in. It's a great car, and I love driving that. My EA was the first auto I ever drove, and while I loved the car (I'd love it again if it stopped developing new oil leaks everytime I fixed one of the previous leaks), I never liked the auto. These days the auto slips quite badly as it has a worn out S5 solenoid, so that was the perfect excuse to rip it out and put in the T5

Hope it goes in without trouble. It looks like it's in good nick so hopefully when it goes in, it'll give my car a new lease on life.

Well, I've lined up a manual ECU for $40. It'll keep the revs down between gearchanges so make it a bit nicer.

the ford pedal pin setup is weak and will snap unless its reinforced before putting it in, and it also has a cruise control switch bracket,

the mal wood pin is ALOT stronger and more durable because it uses the brake pin as reinforcment and for more strength, id recomend using the pin over a pedal box because of the tim u save doing the dash and then hoping it all goes back in the same way. specially with the aging cars the plastic mounts allways break on the dash which will make it squeek like a bitach!

So if I put in the mal wood pin, I'll still be able to retain cruise control?

OK. If it's not too hard, I would prefer to keep cruise as I do a lot of freeway driving. Could I take the cruise control switch bracket off the manual pedal box and put it on the auto one?

Just get the pedal pin welded up. Changing pedal boxes isn't that hard.

sure it isnt hard, but first time its DAMN hard, ive pulled out a few dashes, never put them back in. u can retain cruise control without the clutch switch, all that switch does is disengange the cruise when u clutch in so it doesnt rev out, i dont have it in mine and it takes 2 minutes to get the hang of it and turning cruise off so it doesnt rev out. u can prolly put the switch and braket in, how hard? who knows, u could prolly do it with a drill and a couple screws but again space isnt very nice under there
