Its a cop car

should have 3.23 LSD, Fairmont Interior Lighting (usually with a dimmer switch), Sports Suspension, Police Instrument cluster (similiar to the Fairmont one but with police calibrations) and most likely will also have ABS. It gives you a few tidy options which bring a little closer to an XR. Im actually instrigued that the police optioned up a Gli with a V8. Im guessing that it may be a WA police car (by the way is it white?)

They also have different ECU with a different shift pattern.
I have an EF XR8 OPT 20
We should start a EX -CHASER thread to see who else has a chaser

Welcome Nick
I have an ex chaser. For now
It's the only EL I have owned so I'm not 100% sure the differences between Gli and police pack but I know for sure there is adjustable speedo, oil cooler, ABS, LSD, dual airbags, better shift patterns and slightly better electrics.

Same TCU, so shift patterns are not changed. ECU has no speed limiter, and will have steel tail shaft.
KOEO, hold button for odo in, and wait till it says speed, can be adjusted up or down to 20%

I read somewhere that a chaser trans wont change into 4th until it is over 65ks so i figured that was just a different control module and mine also seems to have a firmer change than any other ford ive driven

None on the Ford database, no different part numbers listed.
Workshop manuals show nothing, and MINE is exactly the same as other cars I own, so in EL it DEFINATLY is no different.

maybe u have a faulty or fake excop ecu

Nope. Mine is not faulty, or fake. Mine is an XR8 from Tumut NSW and I have owned it since Nov 98. I still have the TCU on the shelf, as it was converted to manual. There is only 2 TCU modules for EL series V8 Falcons. ELGT/FBT, and everything else.
I have every Tickford EL V8 model here, from Concorde, ELGT, FBT, ELII XR8 and XHII XR8....care to rethink your "u r wrong" statement?

And just to clarify something, the FBT will go into 4th under 65kph with the gearbox set in Max Perf mode.....

maybe its because mine was a 6cyl and not an 8.. becuase there is definatly a noticable difference between the stock 6cyl ecu and the cop 6cyl ecu.. v8's must be different..

Still dont know about the ECU thing. I had a QLD Police Detective car (purchased from Bryan Byrt, Mt Gravatt) and it used to shift into 4th under 65km/h and in fact it felt like every other EL BTR 4 speeder.

Are you lot talking about 4th or overdrive? Because holding it in 3 on the shifter will infact hold it to 4th gear but it wont go into torque convertor lockup and hit the high overdrive.. overdrive usually kicks in at about 70ks in my EF auto and its a totally standard box and ECU.
