Default km's

Hey people,i bought my AU2 XR8 a year ago and it had done 98000 km's........................since then it's ticked over to 123000,this is my first Ford and some people say.......thats hardly run in for a Windsor, but i'm from the old school where 100000 km's is getting on.Who better to ask opinions from than Ford nuts................p.s it had and has been serviced religiously..........cheers

Its nicely run in. Start to think "long in the tooth" at about 200,000kms and more IMHO

Its low mileage for the motor, mid-life for the tranny, and variable for the interior.

I'm a big boy, at about 120kg, and the interiors of my cars always take beating. I tend to get rid of them when the interior gets too rough, ie seat, steering wheel, carpets, door trim, etc. This usually happens on the high side of 150,000km. I've never worn out a motor, be it 6 or 8.

I've had an EF up to 280k. All depends how you look after your engine, regular oil change, regular radiator flushes (specially for I6's).

IMO its not the engine that you have to worry about with Km's Like that. Its the Suspension / bushes / Shocks / IRS mounts / Diff / Tranny that **MAY** start to get sloppy within the next 30ish thousand Kms....

Really if the vehicle is serviced religously and well looked after, it will look after you, well all of my vehicle have, I have had a total of 5 vehicle's in my lifetime and not once has any of them given me any greif, and I service them all and maintain them.

I bought the vehicle brand new in '01 and just clicked over 30,000, no joke it still has the new vehicle smell about it, if it wasn't for the stone chip's on the front it could pass as a brand new vehicle, the interior is just that, brand new.

I have an EF(11/1995) and it has 228,000 on the clock and is still going strong. I also have a 1991 Holden Nova with 227,000 on the clock and it also has no issues yet. I do have them both serviced on a regular basis.

FYI: My T3 has just ticked over 27,000 :o)

my AU II ticked over 97 000 last night. 10/00 build.

my ED which was a 10/93 build hit 276 000 in August. then certain circumstances ended its life early. but it had a lot of new bits and pieces under the hood.
