Default Harris engines perth-any reviews?

Im finally biting the bullet and getting my gt40p heads recond after many years.
I hand ported them years ago basically a light deburr and removing the thermactor hump in the exhaust port, also lapped the valves and got them faced.
I have a new set of crow springs and retainers to go on,id say the guides are stuffed and maybe some valves possibly?

I have decided on harris engines in ossy park, andrew said worst case it shouldn't be any more than about $850 which I think is reasonable.
Anyone got any experience with their work or any other recommendations for other places?
Cheers Shannon

They were slightly more pricy but Gerry from head torque seemed knowledgable.
Both places between 600-650 for the core recond costs not including valves or guides, single valves or guides are $15 from both places.
Tbh I struggle deciding on who to go with because I get ****** over almost every time I pay for any type of work to be done...

ive had them do a fair few 2v and 4v clevo heads for me and a set of 3valve modular 5.4 motor ones and usually buy the gear overseas and just get them to do the work (but I have had them supply as well) and sent a few people to them always been happy with the out come so far
if its just a rebuild/minor stuff like you've done your self in the past I usually do it my self as well

You've almost leaned me toward head torque Nathan, they specialise in only cylinder heads, gerry did say he would strip the heads and get me to come in and discuss the work that needed doing/any issues that arise before commencing work,im guessing final pricing too.
Just checked with both places and the prices they quoted included gst, most places ive been to sting you the extra gst at bill time... apparently that's illegal to do that!

Yes, a lot of these places would get into the habit of talking trade prices. If you're in business, then you claim back the input tax credits, so its the exclusive price you worry about.
But yes its illegal in Australia to quote a price exclusive of GST to a consumer.

Where abouts are you based?
I have found Vosbergen in Maddington to be very good to deal with

Many years ago, I had my Mustang engine (302W) machine work done by Harris engines. At the time is was run by Ron Messina who was a perfectionist, you could eat of the shop floor. Got the Block, heads etc back and they were like brand new (almost didn't want to reassemble the engine and keep it as is it looked so sweet) dropped crank in, torqued the caps up and did a test rotation, nice an even thru the full 360 degrees, real nice work all over in other words.

They are fairly well known for race engines and I think they built the engine in a BA XR6T drag car that's done very well down at Kwinana.

Rons gone now and the current owner learned the trade from Ron and I'm told is just as good. I might be able to find out more about the current work if you want?

I've had some stuff done at Harris, and can not recommend them highly enough. First impressions were the cleanliness of the workshop. Workmanship is very good from a nice bunch of people. Worth checking out.

what about just buying alloy heads? a nice set of edelbrocks are about $1200 or a little more for baby AFR's
then you could sell the GT40P's for a few hundred and then you will have better flowing heads that are lighter??

I already had some afr 165 and sold them a while back, they are well over 2g thesedays and edlebrock e streets are about 1800 plus all the associated gear, pushrods, rockers, rocker covers etc.
I already have all the bits I need for the 40p heads.
Alloy heads will run me over 3 grand easy without a tune$$$$ as opposed to under a grand to recon my heads.
Sounds like head torque and harris engines are both good.

Fair enough. The e streets are 1200 from vpw but might have read for each not a pair.
