Shifter doesn't actually need to be removed, just move it to any of D, or 3, 2 or 1 and there's plenty of room to get it over. Removed a console from an AU on Thursday arvo.

Don't forget to snap off the rear light cover and unscrew/push out the light bulb inside, or you might tear the cable when removing the console.

I removed a console on a parts car last night and found $2 and two pens!

Register and ducts are attached to the console. It all comes out together.
There is a slip joint at the front for the duct to IP duct interface

Thank all that replyed. The reason why i wanted to remove the centre console was that i wanted to install a 12 Volt merrit socket at the back of console so as to run my engle fridge while we travel down and back to Melbourne.

I had a problem with the console that there was not enough room to fit the socket. Ended up puting the socket in the boot ( will run the power cable from the fridge through the split rear seat). Mounted the socket to a brace bracket under the rear parcell shelf.

So thanks every one for your input.
