Default Falcon protest at Ford HQ

This is going to go well. Not.

"Australia is disgusted with the way Ford treat the car that has kept them afloat for 5 decades, that's right, the Falcon.

We ask that all Falcon fans and owners, take the day off and make the trip to join us at Ford Motor Company in Broadmeadows to take part in a protest against the management and president of Ford Australia who has ruined this company from the day he stepped foot in the door. A man with no passion for cars or respect for a legend whatsoever. With this protest we hope to show Graziano that the passion for Falcon is there and that if he continues to ignore us, Ford sales of any car in Australia will be no more.

More details will be posted closer to the date, we hope to have a little show and shine on the Nature strip out front of the Factory on Sydney Rd!

I do need everyone to understand that what we are doing here may not end nicely. We may be asked to leave and the Police may be called. But hopefully it doesn't come to that and we can have a word with the man in charge of this doomed ship about what he can do to stop it from sinking."

They had their chance, if more people bought them new Ford wouldn't be shutting down production.

Sorry to say this but nothing you do will stop the ship because it has already sunk the falcons just sitting in a sinking life boat.

aka it's not worth investing money in it because sadly not enough people buy them.

Everything good comes to an end eventually.

I think a protest to the federal government against free trade agreements would be more applicable.

This is too little too late. When Bob Graziano spent the day with us last month he was quite passionate and proud of the Falcon. He can't make people buy them.

This miss directed angst will achieve about as much as the save Albert park protestors did to stop the GP.

The best course of action is go put a deposit on one now while you still can, it's the best Falcon yet!

Talking Re: Falcon protest at Ford HQ

I hear ya...we are all very sad , that Ford is leaving , but with sales 5:1 in favor of the red team , it was only going to be a matter of time .. It's a shame , Ford , didnt open themselves up to those that matter , in a effort to find a solution .I love ya passion, but no amount of standing and yelling is going to help us now ..

So when a local business goes broke, you then protest that they no longer sell you goods and services for a loss?

If you want to stop the falcon from becoming extinct, buy one and keep it in the garage.. Keep it mint.

If this rally goes ahead, The ford headquarters representative will meet the mob outside and say to the mob "put your hand up if you bought a falcon in the last 2 years" none of them will.. The he will look around and there will be mostly e series falcons parked up.. He will then say get your scrap cars off my lawn.

Then in front of media he would release the hounds and send out a flock of greasy car salesman to sell a new falcon to the mob and see if they put their money where their mouth is.. (Full rrp $)

Then the mob will be rebutted and leave embarrassed, tail between legs..

he sort of has a point ..if ford made a great value for money falcon people would have brought it (more tech, great drive etc ), they now make a great value for money falcon ..the XR8 and they cant keep up demand even if it still lacks any tech in it

Can't keep up demand is a factor of shutting down though, they have wound back production to just 83 cars per day. I think sustainable figures are much higher than that...

Um yeah, I'm not really disgusted. In fact, I can see that the Falcon had a good innings but the market has moved on. Trying to pin that on Bob Graziano is rediculous.

Perhaps rather than lamenting what is lost, we should celebrate what is being gained? The Mustang will be a great performance car - better than the Falcon, Mondeo will do everything the Falcon can do for 99% of buyers with more tech and better economy, the Everest will be much better tow vehicle than Falcon ever was, Ranger replaces Falcon ute.

So as far as suggesting that Ford sales of any car in Australia will be no more - put down whatever you're smoking.

Can't blame them for wanting to save their jobs, or the car that's has been around for 50+ years, unfortunately if there is little or no profit in it to keep making cars here......... why would you ???

I might be mis-reading a couple of posts so this may not need to be said, but I don't think XRtowcar is in any way connected to this 'protest'...in fact, I think he like the rest of us doesn't rate the idea.

I dont think this a protest to make Ford reverse their decision to close the plant. Its more that we havent seen a single FGX Falcon Ad that these guys want changed. I mean, Holden made the same announcement but everyone I know think Ford are the only ones leaving Australia and that they have already stopped production of the Falcon! No one knows about the FGX.

Surely an ad or two cant hurt that much?

Edit: Cant hurt given their previous decisions to sponsor such events such as the Bachelor that received nothing but negative publicity...

Admirable but flawed. They're a few years too late.
What do they expect Ford to do? If they're wanting (more) advertising then they need to realise that it isn't cheap and considering the amount of the cars expected to be sold it would be throwing good money after bad.
They would be better off pooling all their resources together and advertising the car themselves, or better each buying one.

In saying that, Ford do need to re assess how they market their cars to the buying public. Keep going the way they are and things are not going to get any better.

Quite embarrassing actually. Notice the time of the protest? 10am on a Tuesday... When most people would be at work... Probably has something to do with why they can't afford a new Falcon...

So of all the people that will attend this protest, how many people are actually gonna buy a new one?

Mind you Ford have been advertising their other models and besides the Ranger the rest of the range is not selling well.

Tear up all those free trade agreements with third world countries. Its not our responsibility to give them jobs or put food on their tables. For instance why do we have a free trade agreement with Thailand? They have nothing to offer us. This country is becoming a humanitarian joke, a charity.

careful...we do export to these places too. Our meat industry is highly regarded and the meat sought after because of the quality. Many of these "3rd world" countries are customers. It goes both ways.

So you bought a new Falcon in the past 2-3 years? If not you have no place to think of, let alone turn up to this too little, too late, pointless protest.

Same goes for anyone planning to turn up.

Is the FGX even on sale yet??? If so, Ford marketing is nothing short of useless & they should be cut before FPR get's cut. I am being serious, is FGX on sale??

Also, I think is it very unrealistic to except private buyers to buy new cars every 2-3 years. I buy new cars, but only every 6-7 years. I currently have an FG (bought new) & would have replaced it with a new Falcon in a few years if one was around. I was planning on replacing it with Mustang, but now that Ford has cut V8 supercar sponsorship, I'll spend my money elsewhere. If Ford thinks V8 supercars don’t get sales for every single model in their line up, they are fools & will learn this the hard way.. Dropping V8's is the dumbest thing this current CEO has done.
