Hi all,
My old man (pensioner) bought a BA falcon brand new. His warranty ran out in april this year and the car has just blown the head gasket. It has not been serviced by Ford but by a reputable local mechanic workshop on time every time. The mechanic said he will have to take it to Ford for the repair. The Ford dealer who sold him the car have quoted $2,500 to fix and said Ford will give him $500 towards it. Q. Does this price seem about right? Q. Low coolant level was documented in the car service whilst still in warranty, but cause not apparent, does this give him any legal leverage now that it's failed out of warranty? Thanks for any input, it may help cheer him up a bit (poor bugger is pretty low ATM ) Simon |

I know the BA engine is a bit more complicated than my old EB but i got a head gasket done for $500 3 years ago. $2,500 seems a bit much and any decent mechanic should be able to do it unless theres something i'm missing.
Not sure about the warranty stuff, its worth a try. |
