Default Ford confirms FPV brand will stay around, for now

http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/f...208-2e28l.html

Ford has confirmed its iconic GT will continue to be branded an FPV when production of the high-performance range re-commences next week.

No surprises there! I wonder if there will be a little price adjustment here or there to pass on the benefit of manufacturing efficiencies.

Sorry but I have to laugh at this. There's no way in hell Ford will even drop a dollar from the price. They want their $20 mil investment paid back and if anything they will probably de-content to help that. Ford are the masters of de-contenting.

All I said was I wonder if they would, no need to get uptight about it.

You've taken it the wrong way, it was more tongue in cheek with a dose of reality.

I think ford should drop the XR6/T, rerelease it as the GS and add a "normal" coyote v8 option.

The original GS's were basically just a pov pack falcon with a stripe and a spoiler aimed at getting younger buyers into the seats.

Well, it'd still be available just as an engine option under a new GS.

New GS should be
  • Pov pack falcon
  • GT Front and Rear Bar
  • XR rear wing
  • GS stripe
  • Range of engine options from the ecoboost, to the standard 6, to the xr6t six to a standard coyote v8

Half the problem with the falcon sales is that younger buyers can't afford the sportier range... same as in the 70s when the GS was introduced.

They have cheapened the floor mats and added no new features. No need to thank them, its what Ford accountants do.

GS has already the pov pack XR6 interior and body kit as really its an XR8. Really it just needs the XR8 badge put on and a price adjustment.

I think if XR8 has any chance of being resurrected it will be this year, to try and take some wind out of the sails of the VF launch later this year.

All these people want an XR8 badge, but you still won't buy it, look at it as an GS is higher spec with fpv badge,s you all will put fpv badges on an XR8 anyway lol

Because you and everyone wouldn't buy one now because when they were available, no one, including you, bought one ...... except for 5 blokes for some strange reason. It wasn't that long ago either. Why offer it? So some can buy a cheap V8 second hand when they're off their P's?

Everyone ..... and I mean everyone wanted a ball tearing, super charged V8, HSV beating, reasonably priced high 60k GT! So one was made ...... now its all about electric seats, warm cup holders and thicker floor mats.
