Agreed, how old is the insured driver and is it garaged in the city or a country address?

Sounds good though.

I thought an agreed value was set in stone, and not given a variable value? The premium (in my experience) would be higher if the higher agreed rate was selected.

tempting price though. Anyone had any claim experience with them?

I am an old fart..wrong side of 60 with 60% NCB. Live in Briz..car garaged at night..gated community..They accepted $17k for the Ghia and $13k for the Fez.....It will be interesting to see how they go up against NRMA and Suncorp.
As I said, will investigate when insurance is due..if it sounds to good to be true..it usually is...

Wouldnt touch my Mini. They will not insure any car over 20 years old. But to be honest nor would a lot of other companies. I stuck with Shannons

Just did a quick quote (they were about the same price as I now have) and went through the usual insurance questions, but noticed a couple that I hadn't come across with other companies

One was that you have to specifically name all other drivers.
The other was In the last 5 years, have you, or any covered driver: Declared bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan or credit card?

Cant work out why they would want the finance info.

In USA they always ask you for your finance history on everything you do
You pay everything monthly so if your someone with defaults they will deny you
Where here you could be bankrupt and the insurance dont give 2 cents about your money issues

^^^ there are a few more things to it but thats one main reason

They wont insure my car apprently a 2006 model is only worth $14k tops when its insured at the moment for $24k

Also this is used to determine if your a liability or not. If you have had bad credit you are at a higher chance of doing insurance fraud, same when they ask you if your car is fully owned or under finance, you pay higher premium for having a car under finance because of the greater risk of claim, if the finance goes bad.

just decided to see what its like on my XR8 - even with the excess wound all the way up its was still $1500 more than what I'm currently paying and with the agreed value being $6000 less than what I've currently got.

My driving history isn't bad either, I'm 20, had P's since 08 and currently on full unrestricted license, No at fault claims or license suspensions/cancellations. The company is clearly aimed at mature drivers

20 year old driver with good history here, just got $693 on my Fiesta, same excess and agreed value as current insurer! Didn't throw my parents in though, both over 40 though with very good histories so don't see how that would majorly affect it.

Might be going through this exercise again come insurance renewal time, so I can give the current guys a friendly call to let them know...

My quote came in at $441. I'm paying $560 at present. But I'll stick with RACQ, at least they've got a proven record plus free replacement car for 2 years if total loss. Also Progressive's market value was low I thought and can't pick own repairer.

One other thing I don't like is this
"If your vehicle becomes a write-off because of damage or theft within
the first 12 months of its original new car registration, we will, at our
option
, either pay the agreed value, or pay to replace the vehicle with a
new vehicle and pay the on-road costs"
Bet they pick the cheaper option everytime

But really only an issue if the car is brand new.

currently im paying about $900 a year for my 09 FPV FG GT. im 23, have had to claim insurance once before about 5 years ago for a car that caught fire and was written off. Had a quote done by youi, and was quoted approx $850ish, i decided not to take it up and stay with AAMI. Got a call from youi the next day saying because i didnt take up the policy the day before, they will offer me a bigger discount, this discount took the total annual premium to $9000... yes Nine THOUSAND! I ask the woman on the phone to double check the maths on her end and aparantly the quote was correct! and funny thing was judging by the tone of her voice, she thought $9000 was a normal quote price?!?!?!

Slight bump sorry, but interesting question- What about the opposite idea- paying more for the alternative? Just saw an ad for a policy whereby if you are the first owner of your car, and it is within 13 months of you buying it new, you get a lifetime new car replacement if it is written off (amongst other inclusions you don't get with standard comprehensive). Definitely more expensive though. Would people go with this option nowadays for the new car idea?

Genuinely curious, as I just realised my insurer doesn't offer choice of repairer- that's what I get for blindly following what he parents suggest...

Anyone had any experience with this mob?
I'm old, own my own home and married, so their premiums are incredibly LOW.

TOO good? Anybody actually had to make a claim?
