That is good news. Lots of $$$$ floating around there. Bought a '96 EF Classic from Gem Ford when they had the dealership.

Its not that simple...

The dealership has to be built from the ground up. A bunch of guys from Brisbane are moving out to run it, having the purchasing power of a brisbane based dealer should help them along.

The major reason why there is a dealer going there is that BHP have bought a squillion Rangers and part of the deal was a requirement for local warranty.

Wouldn't BHP do their own servicing/warranty work?????? Wouldn't think BHP would worry about warranty?????

Reality is, BHP have said they will only allow light vehicles onsite which have a 5Star Ancap rating. Mazda/ Ford Utes and Territory Wagons.

Ford are loving it.

Can't be a bad thing, you've got a lot of staff needed to run a dealership, from workshop to the offices out back, lots of jobs created.

Awesome stuff. Ford has plenty of 5 star rated vehicles.
This is excellent for Territory and Ranger. The Toyota equivalents are 4 star only!

Ford might be loving it more if they could get the damn things in meaningful numbers. i work for a fleet company that buys these on behalf of some of the big mining companies, today a dealer told me they couldnt deliver one before Feb next year. granted, it was a wildtrak, but there are similar delays on other ranger variants.

this seems to be an ongoing thing with Ford Aus (often through not fault of their own). Ford make senstional new cars then get no stock to support the sales. Focus, Ranger... even Kuga, we should have had that years ago!

The Thai floods put a serious dent in Ranger deliveries, they will be playing catch up for a while yet, just like Toyota and Honda are with their Thai made vehicles.

Thank christ for that...it'll mean only an hour drive to Emerald instead of a two hour drive to Rocky to get servicing done...as long as they are a good dealership and don't stuff people around...
