Hi Guys
Noticed today (and haven't had a chance to take a photo yet) that there is thinning paint on my bumper. Looking at the tailgate lip, it looks like the two are rubbing i.e. tailgate onto bumper. It is a about 10cm long in the middle of the bumper where the latch is and because the plastic underneath is white, my bumper is sea gray, stands out. Will be taking it back to the dealer for a warranty repair ASAP (or argument) but my expectation is a) the cause is identified and stopped b) the bumper is resprayed. Anyone else noticing this? |

Same problem here, already one repair under warranty carried out about 3 months ago, but the problem has resurfaced.

Same. Have put a piece of clear film over it and will remove that and give it a buff when the time comes to sell.

Me too, except I have a sedan. Looks like the boot was not aligned properly when fitted to the body.

Update: took it into a WA ford dealer. Service Rep had a look and has given me the number of the panel division's manager.
He had a look with a light whilst closed and he said there appears to be a enough gap. So not sure what it is rubbing on. He agreed that the bumper would be repainted as would the underside of the tailgate. So there goes the car for at least two days! |

Further Update: Ford have authorized the repairs. Waiting to find out when the car can go in to get it done.
Was a relatively painless process (apart from having to loose the car for two days in the future). |

I noticed this problem on my Mondeo that i just sold and bumper was resprayed and they said that their was not much room to play with to adjust the bumper. they did what they could. anyway no tlong after it starting rubbing again.

Just noticed yesterday that this has come back.
And seeing I am refusing to take my car back to the Ford dealer I bought it off (poor service), I guess I am stuck writing a letter through to Ford. Wonder if they could fix the water in the hatch issue at the same time! |

Warren,
I have noticed the same recurrance of this one. I thought of placing a couple of self adhesive rubber pads on the underside of the hatch to maintain a gap between hatch and bumper.

Disappointing that we, as owners, need to find a way to fix what is a common problem. (hint to any Ford rep reading this) I am wondering if it is isn't the tailgate but the bumper flexing enough to rub. Either way, not happy so back it goes and will see what they do about it. My only two gripes with the car are all related to the tail gate - rubbing and dripping water into the boot. Warren |

Same here regarding gripes.
I have had the bumber resprayed 3 times, first time on warranty for this issue, plus twice for repairs to car park damage,(inflicted by others) and each time the same thing occurs.
