Default Calder Park drags are OFF?

http://www.calderpark.com.au/home.shtml

Seems they have cancelled all drag events in the near future and word around some of the other forums is that there is some strife going on so they may be closed for most of the year.

From their site
Quote:
“The Australian Motorsport Club reluctantly advises that due to Circumstances beyond our control we are
unable to conduct the Legal Off Street Drag Racing on the 28th of February this year.
More information will be posted in due course.”
And

Quote:
“The Australian Motorsport Club reluctantly advises that due to Circumstances beyond our control we are
unable to conduct the National Australian Drag Racing Championships on the 21st of March this year.
More information will be posted in due course.”

Anyone here able to shed some light on this? Also before we go any further this is not to turn into a Calder bag out fest, comments are welcome but not outlandish statements.

I know Calder is supposedly having a lot of work done this year to see the return of proper bike racing late in the year. A lot of modifications will be needed to make that place remotely safe enough for fast bike racing. My guess would be that it would be linked to those works being carried out.

Heathcote has been running skeleton meets for a year now, due to Russ's health and the venue being on the market

Shame about Calder... At one stage it looked like they were starting to generate interest again and AMC had some good meets on their agenda comming up....

I don't know that there is rumour at all. I heard that he HAS bought it, but hasn't shut it down... yet. Rumour has it that he may shut it down. Can someone assasinate this , that way SA and Vic may get proper Drag racing again.

:S so there are no drags at all this year or just on those two dates? Me and my mates were planning our first ever trip to the drags late this year when we get our licences.
