Called cops on a what I think was a "drug driver".

Was driving along a highway in Vic, when up ahead was a 4wd wandering all over the road, he at one point with about 5 cars around him at about 120 went off into the median strip swerving around for a good 200metres still at 120ish and got back onto the road!

We were a few 100m behind thinking whats this guy doing? My wife thought maybe he's asleep, I caught up and passed him (hes still doing 120ish) and looked over to see him sucking on a colourful pipe of some sort! He looked terribly dopey!

Anyway, I thought I've never rung the cops for anything before so dropped back behind, got his rego, rang, got put through to the locals, told them where I was and you wouldnt believe it, within 10 minutes one came roaring past and pulled him over!

Funny, my wife was annoyed at me for calling, saying "after all your driving..."
Anyway I think this guy was actually dangerous!!
The cops will sort him out if its true and if not, let him get on his way...

I had a similar thing happen in NSW and the 000 bloke didn't even know where the Hume Highway was!! An hour later I got to speak to a cop by that time the bloke was long gone.

I think you may have seen the same people I saw a few months ago, was it 11 or so at night? There was a lowered yellow Ford Courier/Mazda Bravo going down the shoulder trying to get away from a Hilux surf going down the median grass.

About the naming it is so annoying, happened to myself to report the above incident, and my girlfriend after being sideswiped near Brooks Road in a separate incident; we had the same problem with 000. To them its "Liverpool Road" from Ashfield to the Crossroads and "F5 South Western Freeway" from there to past Narellan Road I think.

Possibly saved more than one life. Had he swerved into incoming traffic and hit somebody else, it would have been an absolute tragedy.

Having a medical con dition myself i have a diffrent perspective on this please flame me if you like.

He could of been a diabetic with low blood sugar sucking on one of those twizzle sticks who knows i could be wrong and it was stupid of him to drive and not stop

And does being diabetic give him an excuse for driving like he was?

They didn't even know where Picton rd was either, the closest they had was Remembrance drive. In the end we had to drive to the closest police station which was 30minutes away.
Different incident though, Was about 9pm at night, just before the Narellen Rd exit, and it was a Startrack express truck. This was a good 9months ago, gave the police the rego details and statements, they got back to us 7 months later with "we don't have enough to follow up on it". :

He could of been driving like that because his blood sugar was low and he was passing out also if he was felling ill i said he should of stopped

you should have seen him! you'd shake your head... the pipe he had was bright red with some sort of painting on it.... that didnt look like an ordinary pipe I thought! The cops would have sorted it out.

The operator was really good, asked me where i was, i said what overpass I just passed and they timed it really well to pull onto the freeway further up.

Im 15 and ive had type 1 since I was 2 and im really nervous about when I have to learn drive and to know what do to when i go low, i spoze I'd havta pull ova!!!
I wonder how many other forum members have it :evil3:

Mate its a tough condition and I realise that when the sugar is down it's not rational behaviour, but it sure doesn't make it any safer.

Regardless of whether the driver was 1. P155ed, 2. Off his face on drugs or 3. a diabetic the OP did exactly the right thing and reported it before a tragedy unfolded.

A diabetic has the responsibility to effectively manage their condition or they shoud not have a licence, same as anyone else with a medical condition. Otherwise catch the book IMHO.

I too have seen a diabetic almost kill about 10 people so although I understand I have little sympathy for one who is driving when affected.

What this thread reflects is that no one wants to see affected people on the roads.....everyone should take stock of that as it reflects the massive change in social attitude - its a great thing.

Type 2 mate.

Out here you have to go every 3 years and be cleared by a doctor to say you're fit to drive, im not sure whats it's like in other states (im in WA) but it just involves blood test, eye test. ect. never had any problems getting cleared.

good job buddy i would and have done the same thing before as well.to the member that thought it was a rat of a thing to do how would you feel if it was your mother or father or maybe even your wife,girlfriend or child that could have benn killed by a driver doing something like that.grow up and be gratefull there are still people out there that give a crap.
