CAR BRA or stone chips? Road trip your opinion please

Just wondering if i should use a car bra on a road trip melbourne to sydney BA XR8. Anybody had bad experiences with car bra scratching paint etc
If i use one, can it stay on for a week or do i have to clean it and the car daily prior to refitting?

i have heard that they can cause the paint to buff out i dont know how true that is

well, i just bought a carbra but have not had a chance to fit it on yet.

I use one every time I go on a long trip or for a trip through the mountains with others. Never ever had an issue. Provided the paint is clean and waxed before you put it on, you shouldn't have a problem.

Done some trips Vic to Qld and no damage what so ever with a car bra fitted. Driven 2 hrs on Vic country roads and got stone chips. Car bra for my car everytime.
You would only get scratching if it's not fitted properly or you don't remove it each day to remove the fine debris which gets through the mesh and works its way between the car and bra.

It's not true. They have a felt back and if kept clean cause no damage.

Against all advice I have left one on for about 3 weeks, in rain and sunshine, and it left no marks at all. It was fully cleaned and waxed first of course. Thing is they sit very tight, so its hard for dirt to get down into them.

For what its worth (sure, its only a 2001 XR6...but its MY xr!), I drive on the F3 for 250km every weekend, have in this car since buying it in Sep 2007. Never gotten 1 stonechip ding. The very odd tiny mark, which I can never say for sure has been from driving on that road, and have gotten all marks out with a touchup pen.

No carbra.

getting the front end resprayed cost alot more than a bra my el never go's out naked.

Personally I would not use it as I dont like the look of them. I must admit though I saw somebody post a pic of a fg gt on here somewhere with one that looked and fitted very well, best one I have seen. I think they ruin the look of the car and I would rather look at a a stone chip than a big hunk of something stapped to my frontend, bra's are for women not good looking cars, leave it off.....

EL Falcon. 10 years I've owned it. Travelled nearly 200,000kms in it in that time with lots of long country drives.
Never had a car bra and have bugger all stone chips. Plenty of squashed bugs, but not many stone chips. Could probably count them on one hand.

The 307 has a couple now after 2.5 years and 53,000kms. Not that noticeable though.

It's not like you are keeping it on 24/7. Leave it on for the long trip and leave it off every other time.

theres someone near where i live that drives a red clubsport and has a car bra on every single time i see it... maybe hes trying to hide as much of his car as possible?

I ended up getting an 'invisible bra' fitted - ie. plastic stuck to the front of the car that prevents stone chips.

It's not cheap, but definitely more convenient than fitting/removing a car bra and better looking too - you can barely see the line across the bonnet, and that's only from certain angles and in certain light.

Well worth it, IMHO.

Wrap the front of the car in 'Glad Wrap' and then use car-bra..
no chance of damage to the paint..

GT-P & Cobra have and use a CARBRA on both when doing long trips. No problems plenty of wax and clean.

Wouldn't be without one for a long trip.
While they aren't visually appealing I'd rather see a car bra on than have the front bar and bonnet peppered in stone chips. JMHO

I can recommend these , have been using this product for 3 years on my BF GT , no complaints at all.
A great alternative to those vinyl car bra's.

y'know, i love weathershields, bonnet protectors, headlight protectors, dash mats, floor mats, sheepskin seat covers and just about any other car protection accessory, but i loathe car bra's. i'd much rather have a battle-hardened front end than a car bra. i reckon they look a million times worse than even the worst stonechips.
i could never own a car that i'd cry if i got stonechips on anyway. it's a car, it ain't going to stay good forever and whilst i'll keep it as good as i can, i'm not going to go to laughable ugly extremes like a car bra.

As far as I know you can remove a car bra in under five minutes. Let me know when you can remove stonechips that quickly.

to me its like getting leather and putting seat covers on,unless its a high qual show car ,they are are plain ugly ,but each to their own .
