Getting even tougher for the local car manufacturing industry. How can they compete against the cheaper labour countries like China? Just no way. Soon we'll be like England where there's hardly any industry left, and everything will come from China or India.

And the Federal Government doesnt help at all. How about if the tarriffs from imported cars go to the local car industry to help them, rather than add to the coffers to waste on other things? Or am I being naive thinking that?

Instead, the government is considering even further lowering the tarriffs that would only make it even worse.

Toyota buys them at $9, and sells them for $60 plus.

Agreed. It seems car manufacturers are happy to increase profits, but component suppliers are forced to reduce profits if the manufacturer's business is important to them. Toyota, you are fools! Guess this means at least another 100+ people who wont be buying a toyota in the near future!

Slowing economy - more work/jobs lost hopefully it ends soon - however I have my doubts with Ford building less vehicles than expected other component suppliers will be suffering as well.

Toyota and Holden have also reduced the no. of cars they build

Ford are building about 280 units a day which was about the same as the AU period

Every so often I am a buyer of a Ford product and will still require for the next 15 years of my working life a V8 engined rear wheel drive live axle 3/4 sub frame ute

Message is to Ford ...........keep building them
