Default Bp 102

Was at my friendly local BP today applying for a loan to buy a tank of petrol and discussing life, the universe and everything with the owner when he told me about the new BP 102 ron that will be available shortly. It is currently being tested in WA before deployment countrywide.

This will be good news for those who like fast. I wonder what it will sell for per litre?

The other thing he said was the he is looking at removing his e-gas. He said it is a pain, he sells bugger all of it and those who do buy it tend to be difficult, complain about everything, especially the price and never buy anything in the shop.

Interesting.....

102 will be good for imports that are not tuned to use our fuel.

Of course it will be tested in W.A. all the good stuff is here first :p

Interesting..
Ill have to get some and have a tuning session when released, good to hear since shell is dropping the V power100...Bp has always had alot of the performance market with their BP98 and maybe they can make a success of it where shell hasnt been able too with the 100..

AVGAS (BP100) is guaranteed to be at least 105.8, I was told when I asked at the source I buy it from..

Yes but remember it has lead in it.

BP have a refinery in WA and another in Brisvegas so we will get it here too. The datto's book mentions it so it should be perfect for me.
No mention of ethanol.

This bodes rather well....assuming that they rebuild the 3 BP service stations nearby that seem to have been razed to the ground in one week...hopefully they are remodelling them to sell better performance fuel as well as 3 for 2 mars bars!

Yes naturally only for offroad use on a leaded fuels passbook..
and *most* cars wont see any benefit using it over one of the perfomance pump fuels anyway..

But since the question was asked........

Father-in-law is currently working the Security gate at the BP Refinery.
We've been taking about the do's and don'ts at that place.

No Mobile phones on site, no matches or lighters (they have 'smoking sheds'), full chem-suits (past the 'green zone').
They have some crazy chemicals coming in to that place, one requires an almost complete shutdown to unload. (the ship)

I'll see what he can find out.

Very cool. I think BP might have to re-think a new strategy to market the 98RON PULP since it's not the ultimate anymore when the 102RON PULP is out.

Won't this be E85? I heard they're rolling E85 out in Melbourne. It's supposed to be 102-110 ron.

How many cars sold in Australia are E85-ready?

I'll be on the look out for it, see what the extra RON is worth as well.

Depends on what you mean by simply. Some cars can be 'tuned' to take advantage but others can sometimes require virtually all of their fuel system components, e.g. injectors, pumps, seals, lines to be replaced. To that end you'd be better off buying a new car built for E85 or just using something else like LPG...

Not only would you get fined but in most EFI vehicles you'd destroy the o2 sensor(s) and cat (if you had one) pretty quickly...

Wonder what the cost difference will be between this and BP Ultimate, or will this by default become the new ultimate?

Off topic but this reminds me of when I was working on air conds at the Birkinhead fuel depot here in Adelaide. No radios, car A/Cs turned off, no phones, no welding, long pants/sleeves, etc, etc, etc. Then in the middle of the depot there is a pergola where smoking is allowed..... so the fuel vapour goes around it how?? We found it very amusing :P

looks like this fuel has been around for a couple of years in Europe ( UK )
One of our engineers from the UK is familiar with it ( BP102 )

It is very expensive. He mentioned something evil and blasphemous like £2.40 per litre..........that equates to around $AUD5.00 per litre !!!!!!!!

Methinks it may only be useful for millionaires , billionaires and the outright bloody stupid...............

But whats the base fuel selling for over there?

Might not be a bigger difference as you though, they won't sell it for much more than what the 98 goes for, shell canned their 100 i would assume due to limited success?

Oh well you know we will have to "wait a while" for it!

I haven't seen it on sale or even marketed as yet over here.
