Default MOTOR GT-E vs Senator vs SRT8 300C

Any one read the new motor mag, times for the 3 machines:

GT-E: 0-100km/h in 5.4s 0-400m in 13.4s @ 177.73km/h
Senator: 0-100km/h in 5.0s 0-400m in 13.1s @176.74km/h
SRT8 300C: 0-100km/h in 5.1s 0-400m in 13.2s @177.42km/h

note: temp during testing 10 degrees C

feel free to discuss the cars

Was quite suprised at the perfomance of both GT-E and Senator. It was a great read, wich I could say the same for the pics.

starting to look like the softer suspension is helping getting times down , ala g6e

I think they said it was the quickest times they have ran in a boss to date as well. About time they did a test in a cool temp instead of 35+ deg. Now all they have to do is test the turbo cars at that temp. Would make life interesting. Manual adjustment of the passenger seat in the GTE :togo: How is this meant to compete in the senators league???Takes cost cutting to a new level.

its actually a good issue, the mag also covers the new EVO with comparisons to the previous EVOs, the new Lambo as mentioned and if your a Holden fan (or keen on the old school Holden muscle) there is a HT GTS vs VE GTS comparison and the history of the GTS. A nice read, also includes other bits and pieces but yeah grab the mag to find out

I'm also thinking the auto is matched well to the Boss, the slight bottom end lacking is preventing the wheels to blaze up compared to a manual equipped boss, once the launch is completed the revs are up and away she goes

Interesting to see that the GTE was reeling the Senator in. Higher speed at the end.

small update:

GT-E: 80-120km/h in 2.94sec (Drive)
Senator: 80-120km/h in 2.97sec (Drive)
SRT-8 300C: 80-120km/h in 2.88sec (Drive)

These things are so close, good to see the GT-E not being demolished like many of us probably thought it might have been.

That's as close to a 3 way draw as you'll ever get...

That is special. That is the first time a Boss has ever really been in the same realm as that pair. The standing start acceleration times for me are great but not what really makes me excited. The 80-120 in drive time is the measure that is more meaningful for me and I would like to see more runs done from other speeds in these comparisons. I couldn't give a what 0-100 times a car runs to be honest, give me bulk grunt available everywhere at any speed. With those numbers it looks as though the new one has it all over the previous engine on the road no matter the little difference in badge numbers, which again are largely meaningless. This is exciting news for Ford fans. It is also good for GMH that the GTS can play with the SRT8. I tell ya that Chrysler engine is strong and the performance stays mega strong no matter the temps etc.

Well from those figures, im actually more impressed about the SRT8.

Figures for GT-E and Senator are as expected for me. 5.0 flat for VE and mid 5's for GT-E. Probably get something like a 5.3 and mid 13's for standard GT/GTP. Respectable for sure, but just not as blistering as the HSV's or Typhoons for that matter.

I can see a well driven Clubsport getting into the 4sec 0-100, 12 second quarter range- will be nice to see what some run in Typhoons can do.

It looks like HSVs 4.9 second claim might be more on the money this time.

So the quickest V8 FPV is the one that does NOT have the stripes, decals, wings and panda eyes......

Stock SRT8s run 12s quite often. I saw a young bloke with no experience put one in drive and 12.9. They don't fall off with temp at all either. Cold air induction kit gives them a heap more go to apparently, very low state of tune from all reports and respond awesome to tiny tweaks.

Im pretty sure GT-E got a 2.9 for the 80-120.

I'm impressed as well, good to see us finally right up the general well in the luxo dept.....
Matter of interest what is the weight of each of these if anyone can post up ?
SRT for its visual size is a ball terror.

sorry to nit pick but "quickest over the 1/4 to date" not fastest...
Fortunately most roads have corners, so straight line performance is only 1 small aspect of the total package as a performance vehicle..
It would seem the cars with suspensions more in tune with comfort aid 1/4 times but will be compromised for handling which will most likely make them slower on a circuit or twisty roads...

So you are gloating that even the basic Ford G6ET and XR6T are quicker than the GT range?

Strange sort of statement for a known rabid V8 zealot..............

Er Yes........quickest............not fastest......correct..........fingers were typing too quick.............or is that too fast.............

I guess without taking both the G6ET and the F6 around a track we'll never know if the track result would also be a bit of a surprise..........after all......everyone was so hell bent on the F6 doing so much better than anything else...........
