Default Ford's "Cost plus $1" sale

Hi All

Ford are currently advertising a sale on all '07 plate cars here in Darwin called the "cost plus $1 sale" where apparently they are offering vehicles at $1 over their cost price.

It sounds more like marketing BS to me and I'm surprised the ACCC hasn't jumped on them for misleading advertising.

Just wondering if anyone has bought a car under this offer and whether the prices are truly reflective of cost or whether they are the same deals you could get walking in any day and bargaining.

There is an 07 plate XR5 turbo here a mate is interested in.

Adam

I think a little bit more info is required. How much is it?

How much is what? The specific vehicle hasn't been priced yet.. but its irrelevant.

They are claiming a sale on all 07 plated models of all Ford makes at "cost price plus $1" - there is no fine print, and no explanation of what "cost price" really is.

I am wondering if someone here knows what it really means (perhaps they are a Ford salesperson)...

I would rather be armed with this info before walking in.

There's only one here in my city (Darwin) and it's not clear whether it is limited to here or they are doing it elsewhere ...

I'll go in now, but my gut feeling is "their cost price" will include the cost of having the cars on the lot since 2007 and other administrative fees that add up to RRP

Get a quote Adam, and then get one from a dealer that isn't doing the cost + $1 deal interstate... You know what the Darwin dealers are like, almost always cheaper to buy interstate, ship up and then pay rego and stamp duty... Fr... Ford will be no different.

Those sales are usually factory invoice price + $1.

The dealership still makes money because the still get holdback, floor plan allowance and bonuses on the cars.
