Default broke into my car the bastards!

ok pretty ****ed off right now.

went shopping last night with my girlfriend at karrinyup and after driving round the car park for 25minutes found a shop in a well lit area 50m from the doors. went in at about 7:50 came back about 9:05 to hear as i opened my door "oh babe your windows smashed"

there was glass EVERYWHERE through the car. some, if you don't mind my french, F*cker smashed my passenger side window with a crow bar or some object, pushed the whole window in and opened my glove box and my centre console and stole my set of $20 aviators and tinted safety glasses and worst of all my radar detector that was a present from my girlfriends mum only a couple of months ago. left my cd's and $5 of change.

took me a good 30 minutes to clean enough glas off the drivers seat for me to drive it home and we spent a good hour n a half this morning cleaning it as best we could. insurance are being bastards and aren't happy that we already organised to get the window and panel they dented replaced because it isn't their prefered repairer but our argument is the car isn't safe with no window as it is. also they claimed that even though they cover $1000 worth of contents they won't cover what got stolen as nothing was on the insurance as accessories of the car. also i doubt they'll cover geting it retinted as they are tight pricks and i don't think the tint was listed.

more of an *** around that i have to get it replaced today and i'm a little worried water may have got inside the car after i left it at ford.

so i'm a days worth of leave from work, $350 and a hell of alot of anger out of pocket.

first thing i do when i get my government incentive for being an apprentice is get an alarm with loud loud sirens inside so it deafens these theiving bastards.

wheres the respect for another mans car that he's put so much effort into it being the way it is?

Rhys

These days if you leave anything in a car of any value it WILL be stolen and your window WILL be smashed to get it.

Be that GPRS/SATNAV, Mobile Phone, Wallet, Handbag, Radar Detector, briefcase etc etc

Some crims will even smash your window if they see ONLY the holder for your GPRS/SATNAV on the window as they will assume the GPRS/SATNAV unit is in the glove box or under the seat or somewhere in you car.

I know how you feel man had this happen to me a few years ago in my beemer. I had more than 20 cd's stolen.

It had slipped my mind but after your post i'll be going out in the next few weeks and getting an alarm for my new car now. One that has the pager so i can catch the little creeps in the act.

Had a similar thing happen in 1991 radar detector change and condoms taken ozzy and black sabbath tapes left .
Caught him breaking into a mates car a week later the police came thanked us and said that he had broken into 73 cars they knew of in the last 3 months thanked me for catching him and said nothing would happen to him.
Another bloke comes into the car park started abusing (quite violently going off his brain)the girl that was with the theif as she was wearing his jacket that was stolen from his car the day before.
The female thief advised me that they would be home before I finished work as aboriginal legal aid would get her out in an hour.
The police wouldnt leave so we could fix the theives up.
The next week I am down the mall he is walking down with his pack of mates he laughs at me and I took the necessary action his friends ran away and he went very pale .

will definately look into getting a paging system installed, and definately a deafening screamer inside. if the bastards wants to key my car because i've made him deaf he can go right ahead at least i've done something to him.

if he'd of taken cd's, well i do havea part time job at that very shopping centre at a cd store but i've never driven my xr there while working.

now i've gotta spend the rest of the time i have this car pulling bits of glass out whenever i move anything like the carpets and panels for my stereo.

cheers for the support guys, i spose it could have been much worse.

security said if there is any footage then they can either give it to the police or if i want the can give it to me incase i know the people. although i can't think of anyone that would do it to me on purpose.

Mate, I am so sorry to hear about this. And i can appreciate your frustration with your insurer.

I just hope anyone that reads this does take notice and if you have a GPS, Sat Nav, radar detector or any kind of valuable that can be removed needs to be not left out.

P.S in the event of the most common items that stick out screaming "STEAL ME" is Sat Nav Units. Always always put it away unless you need to use it and for gods sake if it is a suction cup mount clean where the circle mark is on the windscreen that tells these people there may be one in the glove box or under the seat!!!!

A lot of insurance companies will not cover Sat Nav units as the are genreally not a "fitted" item.

Sorry to hear your bad luck, i always worry about my cars having GPS etc on dash, im waiting for some to decide they want a new GPS unit and bust in, try and put it away when im at shops!

On another note.

9 FPVs got busted at my local dealer a few nights ago, the pricks busted the left hand front window on every New / Used FPV in stock and stole the Gauges out of them, everyone keep an eye out for new FPV gauges in QLD!

Sucks to hear mate. I've had vandal damage to my cars before and also walking out to see another car in my spot...
Get the security guy to make you a copy or print off a frame and show your mates, and leave copies at the stores at the shopping centre, you might get lucky...

Your insurance company or their loss adjuster should have picked this up. In your initial post, it appears you bypassed them in your haste to get it repaired. If this is the case, you need to get things back on track and follow their protocol to arrive at a happy solution.

That sucks big time. I had my car broken into in broad daylight whilst parked in the middle of the city. Alarm didn't go off because they just smashed the passenger window in. So need some sort of ultrasonics gear required to pickup inside movement and a BLOODY big mack truck air horn......or maybe pepper spray!!

They're quick too..........just smash and grab and run for it. Feel like capping them in the back of the head with a 45.

I wish I could have been there at Cash Converters when they handed over my fake Rolex!! haha.

You my have an option on your home contents insurance to have what's called "General Effects" cover. I bumped mine up so WHEREVER I am in the country, I have $2000 worth of coverage for my posessions........suitcase/car gear/cameras etc.

Normally if you call your insurers (24hr hotline) you can organise a repairer straight away. I had a 24hr callout guy come to my place and fix it ASAP.

Rhys,
I know how you feel mate, these guys need their hands "cut off" . I've had a number of break-ins/theft over the years .

1/ In 1970 , I Had my licence 3 weeks & my old XK got broken into = Lost portable radio from under the seat .

2/ About 1975 got a phone call at 4am from a neighbour , he'd seen my XY Wagon "rolling" down the street without the lights on , called the Cops , by the time they got there , there was one "very sore" guy sitting alongside my car at the bottom of the hill .

3/ About 1978 had my TD XLE broken into "5" times , I lived in some Units in Auburn (Sydney) after getting married , mostly stupid things taken , radio knobs etc . I got sick of that & wired up a "door bell" in the Unit that plugged into the rear of the car in the garage . I set it up Friday , Sunday night the Bell started ringing , rang the Cops & caught him "Red Handed" . He got 6 months (22 prior convictions)

4/ Same Units , (hope this will pass the swear blocker) In 1980 , I had a S/Hand HQ Premier 308 Wagon , Statesman front , Aircon , P/steer , Electric windows , American Hotwires , for 11 weeks . Went to go to work on a Monday morning , "No Car" ... was never seen again .

5/ Same Units , My New 1980 XD Wagon S-Pac (3 weeks old) had the Dress Rims & Driving lights knocked off . Driving lights never got pinched again , I "welded" the nuts on . Lost a couple more sets of Dress Rims .

Since moving to the country , never had the cars touched . The Mrs even left the keys in the ignition a couple of times : Lucky , I guess .

Cops Do Jack.
My Laser which I brought for my ex . Got broken into in My Driveway.
I had security camera set up on Motion recording.
Got the guy getting into car and going threw glove box and center console then leaving. took footage to police and they said they think they know the person.
In the end nothing ever got done about it.
So Much for having concrete evidence of the Criminal.
Next time he will be wearing a 4 by 2 over the back of the head and left out on main road somewhere to see if a semi cleans him up.. I didn't see anything officer...
security camera Footage is easily wiped...
