light car + boosted 3L engine + cooler + probably more boost = a close race / you getting beaten

Sorry to burst your bubble but it doesn't take alot to get a VL to boogy its pre historic *** into the 12's

I ran a 17PSI manual VL on a private road, roll on from 60+, i was in front all the way was fairly even until we got to 150, then i pulled away. Mind you i have a fair bit more then 260kw, as much as we all hate to admit it VL's are a quick car, and as mentioned not many un modified ones around!

Well do it mate, you never never know if you never never go

For all you know he could be running a few PSI extra, in which case his fooli shick VL moit will get eaten! We all know that all VL turbo's run 12's, just because front mount coolers are fooli shick!

this whole arguement is silly. I doubt it would run a 12.9 in any case with just those mods, slicks or not.

I think it would be very close, to be honest.

Just gotta watch out for stock looking VL Calais', because alot of them are packing quite a punch and catch alot of people off guard.

I'm probably one of very few VL owners, that isn't interested in a Turbo conversion. lol

I like the VL 5 Litres, but VLTs are cool.

Well my friends (MRBT1) Vlt runs 10.70 with a pretty much stock ecu. Video is on Fullboost. White with stockies all round looks pretty stock, till it blows ya away.

VL 5l were claggers stock, like 125kw from memory, an EA 6 would give em a run,... still, not alot of them around and not alot of people steering of the beaten track of VLT's to bother with em

It's not how fast they go, it's the noise with a decent exhaust. :

That my friend, makes up for lost performance. :

The problem is just that you never no.

an 18yr old could finance this car SLEEPER

It is a VL Turbo with 202RWKW, 271 at the flywheel. This claims to be a 12 sec car.

His weight is 1350 Stock
Yours is 1500 Stock

I still think you would win though, but it would be close.

My brother had one. 5L berlina. I think it was 122kW. Pretty poor for a V8 but they were a light car so it went not too bad

This sounds kinda familiar but against different cars..
I have a mate who swears his ca18det 180sx has beaten a ba xr6T and goes on to say that also beat r32 Gtr skyline in traffic light races i no this car i helped him work on it and i no it cant do wot he says but stubborn to prove to me on the track so sounds to me this young bloke also overating his ride take to track ,numbers dont lie..i think hes pulling himself a little hard and if hes not carefull he might go blind..
i have drivin a couple of close to standard vl turbos before all been manuals and in my opinion there not that great...u gotta push them real hard...
just my 2 cents..

yeah those turbos are a bit deceptive once they've got a intercooler exhaust and tune it would be very close to 13's, only if it was done properly though!!! not by an 18 yr old p plater no all holden driver!!!

actually kenaz most VL's just have a high pitched dose which just proves nothing and are much slower then you think! A VLT with just an intercooler is just for the dose and mostly for looks but at the end of the day they're nothing but nuggets and waste of street space

hey guys, i don't know if this would be considered as an update LOL before you keep reading I'll say it now I DID NOT RACE.. but yeah i picked my brother up from school today it's a nice sunny friday and i thought i'd take the xr out instead of the my dads work car (ED XR8) and what do i see.. mr vlt showing off going up and down doing school laps :P
im certain he saw me considering the V8 roar as i was parking and i picked my brother up and the fool was reving it in the car park (i was about 4 5 cars down, parked) i wasn't intending to show off at all but after my brother kept encouraging me to embarress the guy, i reversed out fast and parked right beside him. Of course i had to rev it a couple of times to show him I'm not scared for a rev challenge i didn't wanna show off toO much so i sat on 4,000 rpm. I asked him do you want to prove me wrong and race at Calder or another place now or tonight.. he refused my offer and said "I'm low on petrol and i don't think i will even make it to the station." I got the answer i was expecting and i drove out with a very long burnout lol.. A day to remember in my book, I think I'll call it "XR meets VLT"
cheers

my bro is a vl man.

He's got this DVD street commodores which is just full of VL turbo's doing 10-12 sec quarters. The cars that run 12 sec launch that hard and are all auto's(they can handle the boost better)

They all run T4 turbo, truck intercooler, engine management and normally have the boost set at 15psi. Most have spent anywhere from 10-20 grand on them.

I would say his car is just clapped out VL turbo on it's death bed and he probably picked it up cheap for say 4-5 grand.

So when he heard the V8 note and realised his car isn't that great he got scared and backed off.
