Default 1600 xflow + 9000rpm = bent valves

Well on the way home from the Rallye Sport Club meeting last night I drove home like a granny right up until the last corner from home and I decided to give it a bit.

Well after leaving first at 7000 I dropped second and hit the gas but as it turned out I hit the gate and the tacho (which only reads to 6000) spun right back round to about 500 which at a guess would be pushing 9...

Put it in gear and it was down to three cylinders... Boy did I feel like a tool. :
Getting towed to ERR on Monday so Tony can fix it (again)...

Moral of the story, if your gonna give it **** make sure its in gear...

Thanks for the offer but my head should be ok <*touches wood*> I hope so because it's had a lot of work done, big valves, hardened seats, port matching etc...

I'll find out on Monday I guess :(

Well Tony should be real impressed tomorrow. Blew the diff at the drags tonight and out of the corner of my eye saw the tacho spin into a very bad place.
And satria the wheels arn't on yet as I need spacers, longer studs and new wheel nuts to fit them. So after tony gets me a new diff, gearbox (Was already stuffed) rear engine seal and inspects my valve gear for damage I may just get around to having them fitted.

Well Tony rang...

After refitting the head he noticed a squeak coming from the engine. After pulling it back off he noticed that I had bent the push rods too...

Sooo after replacing the push rods and putting it back together again the squeak was still there...

The head "specialist" had put in new valve guides that were too small causing them to run tight and squeak...

Third time lucky, he's putting the head back on again now :(
