Default tailshafts in ed fairmont's?

hi, i just bought two universal joints for my shaft;) ... i wanna know if the tailshafts are aluminium or not... guy asked if it's aluminium.. i said i guess so?? otherwise i gotta go and replace uni joints with the right one :|?

yes, it's aluminium. the chart at bursons should have what it is exactly. EA/EB = Steel, ED/AU = Aluminum.

it will be a steel one. only XR autos got alloy tailshafts as well as the V8's.

ae u sure i think they are all steel as ive takin mine out a few times and a mates in his ed xr6 auto to do manual conversion and they felt the same weight i wouldve thought the alloy one was alot lighter.

thanks for the replies,

well i went back to bursons and they showed me their 'chart' and it says from EA to EB are steel, and from ED to AU are aluminium, unless they've been changed since stock.

I think i'm 100% sure mine is aluminium now, i just didn't want to pull the whole tailshaft out to find it doesn't fit. :P

The difference between the two universal joints, is.... the uni joint that fits the steel ones are much thicker than the ones that fit the aluminium tailshaft.

hmm i think no matter what eb1 eb2 or whatever... i think ea to eb are the same... so i don't think eb2 would be the same as ed... could be wrong, but i'm just going by the chart
