I only bash when provoked. I see none so I am not going to bash the BA. As much as I love my AU (and all AU's) there are some cold facts that have to be accepted. The BA model basically saved Ford AU from extinction for one.

That said though.. I do thing the AU has its deserved place in history (good and bad) and, no matter what happens, it will never be forgotten. An book on the history of the Falcon will always have a lot more on the AU in proportion to its sales an timeline than most other Falcons. Right or wrong the AU is a piece of Ford Australias history that (as much as it try) will never be erased.

They are all falcons.

They all have I6 4.0 Litre engines.

I drive BA's at work, and on hire, I drive my AU and think it is cool, I drive the old EF wagon and think it is OK too.

I dont see what is so wrong with the AU S1 grille? I think its called the waterfall? it works.

I dont get why people get so discriminatory within ford ranks?

Fact of the matter is this, BA is a better car than the AU, just like the AU is better than the EL and previous models. Taking power aside (which we know the BA is ahead on anyways) the AU brought good handling and steering feel not seen on a big car before. But the flaw it showed was the fact that the ride was quite harsh to get this level of sportiness.
The BA is definitly in the step to the right direction to the European handling, that is taut, good steering feel yet remaining compliant and absorbing the bumps.

Come on, lets not bag AU owners. I was one before, with my AU Fairmont, and I thought it was great to drive. Although it was quite different to the BA, it was more stable at cruise speed, more fuel efficient, and really was a good car. If only Ford paid more attention to the market with their styling when the AU1 first came out, and changed a few bits of plastic and improved the styling more than they did, it would have improved sales somewhat.
Instead, lets bag owners of the other brand who dont know what a good boot really is, without the obtrusive lid struts and a proper fold down back seat. We dont need to worry about where the esky goes, to allow the boot lid to shut!! Not to mention the better cruise controls etc. etc.
