Default AU Falcon speed limiter

Hi All,
I have been told that poverty pack AU S1's are not speed limited, as it would add extra cost to the car and all higher trim levels had limiters??
I thought that the speed limiter was only part of the ECU program?
Any body able to clarify

Cheers
Rick

Huh?

You had your cruise set at 250? Hard to tell I would have thought as the speedo only goes to 240.

Not sure about the S1 poverty packs, but yes, the speed limiter is a function of the ECU. In my strategy and tune, there are two speed limiter parameters. VVS_SH, the actual speed limit you wish to impose and VVS_CL, a lower speed that fuel remains cut in half until this lower speed is reached. For example, my hi is 112 mph (180kph) and once hit will stay cut until it comes down to 105mph.

As far as I know only the XR ant the T series are not limited ( they have the alloy tailshaft that will handle the higher speeds), the limiter is just programed into the ECU and can be removed with a flash tune but not recommended if you have a steel tailshaft

Both Series 1 Manual XR6's I've owned haven't had speed limiters.

This was a GPS registered speed. @ 220k the speedo was reading 8% over actual.

My series 1.5 has a limiter, there is a module you can get to plug into the ECU to bypass the speed limiter. But there's no situation needed to go that fast.

To the OP, i'd imagine the pov pack s1's would have the steel tail shaft, so i wouldn't recommend going over 160 even if its not limited.

The idea of that long alloy tailshaft letting go would still worry me a bit though. Would be worth inspecting for dents, deep scratches or missing balance weights if you're planning to go fast...
