Question cruise control

My EB series 2 falcon has got cruise control that does not work! As the car was recently purchased and i don't know the history of the car, is there any checks i can perform to get it working? I have got a funny feeling that the car might have the cruise control steering wheel, but no cruise control! If that makes any sense! And another thing, i was considering purchasing a K&N air filter for the falcon, but seeing that the car is stock standard, Am i just wasting my money? $110 for the K&N, $25 for a Ryco!

And as i changed the coolant today without checking the specs, is Castrol Radi-Cool suitable for EB Falcons?

I Hope SO!!!!!!!

Cheers

How much of the cruise control actually works. For example, when you press the On button, does the "cruise control" light come on the dash? Or is it just that you can't set it? One word of advice, the cruise control is also linked to the brakelight switch. I know it's a longshot but check to see if your brakelights are functioning. It happened to me once when my cruise stopped working. I later found I didn't have any brakelights.

As of last Sunday, my cruise also died. The On/Off buttons still work fine (according to the light on the dash), but the "Set Acc" button does nothing. As for the "Cst Res" button, without the "Set Acc" button, it's pretty useless. Before Sunday, the buttons were pretty ordinary, but they still worked (in a fashion). The "Set Acc" might have taken a couple of attempts to engage, and the "Cst Res" button would usually take about half a dozen attempts (which is why I hardly used it). I just don't understand how it could just stop working so suddenly. Any ideas?

I press the buttons but nothing happens, no dash lights, brake lights are fine, as for the cruise control, nothing. I just hope that the previous owner didn't put on a new steering wheel that has the buttons but are not connected!

Thanks

Another thing that could be a problem, on the back of the steering wheel, and obviously also on the steering column are some metal contacts. They could possibly be worn out.

Does it have a cruise control cable running to the throttle body?
EG two cables running over the rockercover.

Do you hear a click from the center console when you press the on/off button?

also if it has cruise it will have something behind the washer bottle bolted in from the top, and another bit on the driver side bolted in from the top (this one has the second cable going to it)

WTF? Driving the car today, I tested the cruise again, and it worked! I did nothing to it, so it's not dead yet! Now it just confuses me as to why it didn't work on Sunday.

The Canister is behind the Brake booster EA2BA, Silver Ghia, get some paper and slide it in under the button, then Press the button and pull the paper out smoothly.
This will clean the carbon contacts.
Also check that the Pedal switch's are set up properly.

I'll try that. How easy is it to get to the pedal switches?

The pedal switch's are just behind the pedals, you will see them if you have a look.
Just make sure they are adjusted.
