Default Getting rid of a vehicle with no docs

Guys, I need to get shot of my other vehicle. It's out of rego (according to the sticker in the window) on Sunday (16/1/5), but I have no other docs for it at all. I didn't even realise I should've had some until I bought the Falcon yesterday!

Had planned to eBay it for a dollar start & no reserve, what notes should I make to any prospective buyer?

If anyone here is remotely interested, it's an '84 Mitsi L300 4wd, 305k, tired, battered and a bit rusty. It does have good 4x4 trans, engine mediocre (2.0 4cyl smokey on startup, and weak performance, uses a litre of oil per thousand kays, no water consumption). It's been jacked up a bit and sits on (I think) 30x9s, set of five wheels and tyres all with near new tread.

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks for that. Do you reckon it's this Notice of Disposal that I'll need? Also, I didn't register this vehicle to me as the thief that sold it to me told me it wasn't necessary to do so until the current rego expired - will the RTA get arsy about that?

I did however get a parking ticket, and foolishly wrote to the issuing office to contest it, thus creating a link between me and the vehicle. I don't want to be infringing the law here, how d'ya reckon I should proceed?

Cheers,
Alex

PS - I'm rummaging through the RTA website, but I don't really know what I'm looking for!

Well if the car is not in your name, and/or the previous owner did not do a notice of disposal you have a problem.

Look up buying an unregistered vehicle on the web site for a start.

Better yet find a paddock, get some mates, kill it, set it on fire and sink some beer watching it go up.

And video it all!

When you bought it you should of had a rego transfer notice which you take to your local traffic authority hand it in, pay stamp duty and your done. Oh yeah i would also assume you need a rwc or similar to transfer the rego.

ive never had probs selling unreg cars before. Ive bought numerous ones aswell that had like 4days rego left on them.

Easiest thing is to wait for the rego to run out.
Then simply sell it Unreg like on your Ebay advert. You wont have any probs.

How much do you actually want for it? Would it drive to Brisbane allright?

I (stupidly) paid fifteen hundred, it seems the 4wd trans is what makes them worth a bit more than the normal 2 wheelers. I'd be happy to get half of that, but will take whatever the auction makes.

I'd be pretty confident it'd go to Brisbane, will sit at 120 no trouble on the highway, we did a round trip to Orange out of Sydney of a weekend a couple of weeks back, which was about 1200kms through the mountains etc. (we got lost a couple of times)Returned 11.2l/100km on that trip.

Cheers,
Alex
