Default replacement shifter...

Hey,
Im relatively new to these forums and i cannot seem to find a thread discussing this. I am wondering if anyone has/ or knows of anyone that has updated their AU auto shifter (T bar) with something else, such as a BA T bar or a commodore one with the button on top. Steps involved/ pictures would be great. The standard T bars just dont appeal to me.
Cheers in advance.

I know it has been done before, but a lot of work has to be done to make the BA shifter fit. The BA mechanism has a shaft that pushes down, while the AU has a shaft that pulls up.

Holden VY/VZ with the square button go down. Im pretty sure to get one of the aftermarket ones to work youd have to make the engage rod or whatever it is held in, so itd be the same as holding the side button in all the time, not really safe but i reckon its the only way youd get one to fit.

the AU t-bar is a lot more attractive than the BA and Commo ones, especially if you grab a momo one with a chrome button and stalk..mmm

Does the whole button mechanism need to be there to start with? Is there anyway I can mod it so I don't need to push any button in? So I can just put a normal shift knob on?

I agree, the Momo shifter is the best looking.
