Talking 4000 stallie? Pushing the limits or my luck?

What do you guys think? It has been a bit quiet and I am getting nervous energy back..The winter is upon us and a 14.2 for the wagon seems to be getting old. Any way what do you guys think? Should I ? Should I not? Why ? Why not? I just feel this 2500 stallie is a tad to small ..Our torque seems to come on strong a bit higher..

4000rpm is big

What ratios are in the i6 4-speed auto? What rpm are you shifting at?

I guess, you would need to make sure that your rpm drop from 1st>2nd and then 2nd>3rd doesnt put you below the stall speed of the converter.

Would probably be a bit crap on the street, but would be fun at the track

i would suggest getting a stronger 'box too if you are gonna be launching at 4000rpm Stav lol

shockloading a stock/reco BTR like that will be sure to kill it in no time, so i would say, unless you have a proper built up tough box, dont bother. just look at a 3000-3500 stall.

I know it sounds like fun, and you'll probably improve your 400m time, but, and you knew I would say that........

Think about what it will be like every day on the road, as that's what you do 98% of the time, drive it on the road.

You know it will be an absolute pig on the road with a stall of 4000rpm.
Just like in a thread going on just yesterday, what works well on a race track won't work well on the road.

Be honest with yourself and think about whether you can live with it slipping and revving it's tits off just trying to park the bloody thing.

BTW, I've also said this before, but why are you even wasting your time with a poxy auto? The real fun starts when you fit a manual.

I dont wanna be a poo poo, but to be honest i reckon you've done enough things with this wagon that no one thought possible, and yet its still a perfectly reliable daily driver...

continuing will only end in things starting to go wrong which will annoy you.

As Sox says, it wont be fun on the road, and you know yourself how much you enjoy driving it every day and giving it the odd blat.

Also as sox says, hows about a manual conversion.. a whole new world for the Stav to explore?

you are fearless Stav, it sounds like fun for while, but i reckon the novelty factor will wear off pretty quick, i could see your wagon doing this though .

I too distinctly remember a long winded thread about BTR 4sp boxes being weak and useless etc etc. I reakon either be prepared for it to break, or dont give it a reason to break!

On topic though, for the strip it will be killer, on the street it will be a steaming pile of cow dung, either keep it as it is, or as sox said drop in a manual. (but please dont complain if a stock T5 doesn't handle 5000rpm launches on slicks)

Just cancel the rego and turn it into a race car. Buy another standard wagon for work and be done with it.

Just bare in mind that the BTR's do have a rather small sprag in them, if launching in drive you'll be shock loading that straight across the sprag, if you hold it in first it'll be fine cause when in 1st they apply a seperate set of clutches locking up the sprag.

T series boxes had a modified shift shaft in them were by they lock up the extra clutch pack in drive, while electronically held in first, i'd recommend getting someone to machine your shift shaft to do the same.

To get much more na is gona cost you some decent dollars. If you want more power go forced and be done with it.
