Default Help selling a car interstate

HI all

I am chasing some advice regarding a car I have sold. I live in Perth and the buyer is in Adelaide. He is unsure about sending money prior to the car going on a truck and I am not keen on shipping the car until I receive the funds. I have called the banks but they cant offer anything like a holding account. Has anyone bought / sold interstate before and how did you go about sorting the payment?

ANyadvice would be great.

CheeRS

Does the transport company offer a holding yard? Could they hold the car until payment is received by you, before actually shipping it?

Thanks for the input guys. Will have a chat with him...

rag top, it isnt the RS :-) That car isnt for sale. It would take a very silly sum of money for me to part with that. It is the Mini. I fancy an AU3 XR8 and something has to go, so it is teh Mini. Once I find a Falcon, then the Mondeo goes as well. Shoudl leave me with some space at home finally.

Mate I am actually going to pick up an interstate car next week $69 to fly there have a look at the car use the owners computer to do a funds transfer whilst I am there exchange docs all done. Get him to fly over and do the deal air fare is cheap as Return for less than $200 look at the car pay you and fly back. Bet the car is worth a lot more than the air fare and I wouldnt ship a car before payment.

The buyer can ask the car carrier to have a quick look over it while on the phone to him/her,
DO not under any circumstance let the carrier load car without payment in full,if car arrives at buyers door and he/she changes their mind you will have to pay for the return trip of car

The buyer needs to fly and pay. That's what my last buyer did.

Obviously the car does not leave your place until you have the $$$. Thats what money is for after all

Hi all
I did the same thing with a car in Brisbane and the buyer in Adelaide
I used the bank to make the transfer of the $5k
I took the car to the transporters and rang the buyer and he spoke to the car transporters and got a description of the car and then put the cash into my account and I rang the bank and checked the ballance and when it was all OK I told the car carriers they can now have the car
hope this helps John

VIP do inspections, transport, payment and change of ownership handover. Mate bought Mustang from Vic. We are in Perth. Great to deal with and gave a very thorough inspection list.

If the buyer wants it he must fly and pick up and pay for, sold a Harley recently, the guy flew over, gave me the cash and the bike was loaded up to go...easy.

My brother bought a car in Qld recently, again flew up, completed the transaction and drove home....all done.

No cash no car
