Some one obviously edited your post about you driving alertly at just below the speed limit when a dog shaped kanga-emu-bat ran onto the road and as you took evasive action you slipped in the gravel and collided with a tree.

If you had, in fact, fallen asleep you could be breeched with at the least, driving without due care and possibly up to dangerous driving. Lucky you didn't.....

yep. the car is most likely a write off.

having said that, mate, you've gotta be pretty thick to come here and tell the world that you fell asleep at the wheel and are claiming it on insurance.

I would assume its a write off!

I actually fell asleep at the wheel just round the corner from my home just after I got my p's. I drove up the gutter, hit a parked car and I then woke and drove off. Went up to police station and reported what I did.

Insurance fixed both cars no dramas, and I got a neg driving fine. I dont see the problem with saying it on here that he fell asleep, and that being a problem with insurance. This was about 8 years ago though.

But I could be wrong :togo:

Written off mate, no two ways about it. The cost to repair will be more than half the cost of the car, therefore it will be deemed a repairable write off. Lucky you missed that Roo;)

Is this a standardised method of working out a write off??

Had the Festiva repaired after a person decided to smash into me and the repair was around 6 grand, the value on the insurance papers was around 6.2K.

They gave me the option, cash or repair pretty much.....

Why do you guys say that?

A claim can not be void if the driver falls asleep.
Unfortunately it happens alot and not policed due to a camera not being available...

Seriously, You can lodge a claim and say you fell asleep and not have any worries.
