Default Alternate insurance after claim

Just after a little feedback...

Has anyone switched insurance companies, whom had a previous claim with their previous insurer?

What problems did you run into with the new insurance companies? (denied, strict policy, too many mods, etc).

In the event that you bought a new car with the new insurer, again, did you run into any issues.

Cheers

thats about the only problem i ever seem to get.

Good luck though.

I always used to be with CGU for years, but they wouldn't insure my XR8 because of the modified exhaust. I told them it had a standard exhaust fitted back onto it just to get insurance for a couple of days. Then when I found QBE & the) &y asked if I'd ever been refused insurance I said no. I had a claim with CGU (my wife clipped a parked car) which QBE didn't seem to have a problem with..

If you are really keen, have a look through the 2007 Insurance Ombudsmans (IOS) annual report. Skip to page 38 and it gives you the stats on complaints made to the IOS for each insurer.

CGU's Standard Excess in Vic is the lowest that I know of still at $400 with others have crept to $450 and even $500

Another nice Fact:-
If you insure through an IBNA Broker (Insurance Brokers Network of Australia)
With- CGU or ALLIANZ or QBE or VERO

They have the additional benefit of New for Old repalacement of vehicle if your car is less than 3 years old and has travelled less then 60,000klm and Choice of Repairer

Also you can obtain discounts if you Exclude Under 25 or Under 30 year old drivers (depending on which insurer it is)
