A couple of weeks ago i stopped the car, stuck it in reverse, light throttle , she thumped in reverse..like it wasnt quite in reverse then ingages and took up the slack.. It seems to be slower going into reverse then Drive.. If i wait a sec more for reverse to engage it seems ok.. Never noticed it before...Don`t know if i`m too fussy but i`m going too the transmission specilist and get them to road test it.
The car is a AU2 XR8 with only 37,000 kilo`s , so i`m disappointed..We`ll see what the out come is tommorrow.. Cheers |

Mines done this since the dawn of time, you just have to let it engage properly in the box before applying the accelerator.

Mine does it all the time, regardless of how much fluid is in there.

My BFII takes about 4-5 seconds to engage ... the key is to allow it to engage before apply the accelerator.
My AUII auto engaged immediately ... mind you the auto was a rebuilt strengthened BTR ... and was built to shift solidly and precisely. One thing I miss about the old ute.

my au1 lanes old box took its time engaging reverse .. as does debzillas au1 lane
but my newer tough as nails box with mechanical shiftkit does it perfect every time  so its a good excuse to go lay out $3300 or so for a nice TOUGH BTR mine had 450rwhp+ thrown at it from a turbo AU XR6 now its behind a 156rwhp NA 6 haha

One thing i'll point out is that just cause you just had the trans serviced doesn't mean they put enough fluid in, I burst a hose in the ole NC fairlane, fixed house, limped it into ford and they filled the box up, later going around corners hard it slipped out of gear, checked fluid and nope not enough.
the transmission has to be stone cold to fill it via the case plug.

True, 5.0whiteaughia. Similar thing happened to me. Got a shift kit fitted and then afterwards it kept slipping gear when turning right. Asking the mechanic who fitted it, he said they ran out of fluid so couldn't top it up enough. Sheesh! They did fix it though.
