Default p plate mods - any one know?

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/...200707_p2.html

"license restrictions for p2 licenses..... must not drive vehicle with modifications that increase engine performance"

i have been driving my EA for about half a year now, it has a loud cat back, is this illegal? ive been pulled up by cops who have heared it and seen my Ps and never said a word.. on this basis i would like to install the lukey headers i have lying around and maybe even my wade cam 1004.

on the other hand anyone know the fine for contravening these laws? suspension? fine? both?

also, the extractors and a wade cam lying around. To pass rego, do i need an engineers cert for these?

There are been many a thread on this.

And as you mentioned it is a licence restriction for modify to increase engine performance.

So you have already modded your vehicle to increase power (albeit only about 2kw with loud cat back) ... that's already breached your licence restrictions.

Adding a cam will breach it yet again along with headers as well.

It's a risk you take by modifying your vehicle on Ps in NSW ... you have been lucky the officers that have pulled you over so far have been extremely leniant ... next time you may not be so lucky.

Not sure on the contravening of these laws ... but I guess it should show on the RTA site in regards to failing to comply to P2 licence restrictions ... or the like.

Loud exhaust ... well that could be passed across to the EPA for further testing (if you get "noticed" by officers next time) and/or fines as well.

Your best bet ... stay inconspicuous until you are on an unrestricted licence ... then you can have free reign (well ... within reason still).

on Ps you are allowed no modifications that increase performance this includes the exhaust you have. get a cop who had a blue with his missus and you'll be walking for 3 months and forking over a wad of folding stuff.
the stuff you want to fit will not require an engineers certification but you may not be legal with the cam depending on how it impacts on emmisions. if it increases emmisions you probably will never be legal with that cam . that having been said in NSW we don't have mandatory emmision testing ATM so no one knows if the cam passes or not, including you.
before anyone says it don't try the " I hope they won't catch me " attitude in regard to P plate mods. this has been said before in other thread and the posts have generally been deleted for encouraging illegal behaviour . you want a licence don't mod till you are off your Ps then it's your choice
