Default Final Mitsubishi 380 fetches $100,000 at auction

http://www.caradvice.com.au/12158/fi...000-at-auction

Puts the auction of the final fairlane to shame :(

The 380 was the final car off the Mitsubishi Production Line In Australia - the end!

The Fairlane was just the final model, Ford in Australia still exist..........

Was discussed on here somewhere before

Still Nice Price, maybe all the other 380's will be collector models as well........

The problem with a mitsubishi is that you're always going to be driving them, no bugga wants to buy it accept the dealer...

100k... for all that racing pedigree?

The big question is WHY?

No one is ever going to care that it is the last 380 or even that it is the last locally produced Mitsubishi. Mitsu Aus has no heritage.

The money will go to charity, which is good. I doubt wether it was bought as an investment cause it surely has no pedigree or desireability. If I can remember correctly the last Chrysler built was sold for about 20k a few years ago, which is bugger all.

As has already been said, this is the last Australian built Mistubishi. It's all over rover there, kaput. Ford Australia are still building cars. MMAL aren't. Big difference.

God forbid, but if the last Falcon is ever Built, I think it will fetch double or triple that.

Hmm, last Monaro went for 188k.

Maybe the 4.0L Fairlane (which from memory was silver-cab service silver) just wasnt appealing enough. I mean for god's sake - it went for 12k under RRP!

Holden said it was the last Monaro ever.

I can see Fairlane returning once Ford gets the GRWD platform into production. It may be a real Lincoln, however here, it'll be a Fairlane.

The "last Fairlane" would have fetched more if it was actually made unique.
*Maybe* a V8 would have been more popular...

The interior should have been spruiced up, with the interior signed by the honchos at Ford.
It might not have broken records, but it would have gone over RRP...even if it would have cost more to make.

Just a pointless thought...

Correct, it "was silver-cab service silver" and yes a 4.0L

I'm stupid and biased so I don't want a 380 bits-a-missing, however...

I tried tried to order the the last Fairlane as a 5.4 Ghia, Black, Beige leather, burger with the lot, and 4 separate dealers fobbed me off, in fact Costanzo Ford, shame on you, did not even carry a brochure. They young bloke that tried to serve me looked like he had never seen a Fairlane The dealers attitude is 'you don't want one of those'.

Before I got through arguing that I wanted one, (Sith you know this is true), they axed the V8, so I lost interest. the T was my first non Fairlane in over a decade. How does the dealer know what I want? I ask, I pay, they take the cash & go away.

The buyer was John Hughes who runs a massive array of dealerships in Perth. At one stage he had the biggest selling Hyundai dealership in the world. This bloke has probably sold 1/2 a million cars from his dealerships, so he's unlikely to be a mug. His "Skipper" dealership would have sold tens of thousands of cars from the Tonsley park line. He may have just bought in on a personal whim. But be assured, he can afford it.

BTW the last Valiant (last barstard (sic)) sold for $37,000 about 4-5 years ago.

John Hughes hey. 100k to him would of been just some loose change in his pocket. Hes been the best Mitsubishi dealer in WA for a while. Most likely put it in the showroom.
