Default AU II shuttering

wondering if anyone can give me some advice before the mechanics start replacing the wrong things...

My AUII Fairmont 00 80,000km - runs fine for about 10 minutes then starts to shutter and conk out... its get to a stage where it becomes undriveable.. when it is mucking up the engine seems to kick in and out... I would have thought it was fuel related however I have swapped the fuel filter.. I have also replaced the oil/oil filter/spark plugs...

any suggestions??

Replace Oxygen sensor, air filter, plug leads and clean throttle body... just for start...

coil pack also, especially if it does it after the same amount of time, all the time, try running it at night with the bonnet open and see if there is any arcing around the coil pack

After about the 10 minutes it becomes undriveable.. cutting in & out, it does the same in either neautral or drive.. it actully conks out and needs restarting...

If the car is hot and I pull up for an hour or so, the trouble will start within about 5 mins.. not the usual 10...

I have done the suggested above, and I have ti booked in for coil replacements on monday (quoted $450, is this fair?).. I am just really hoping this will fix it as I don't have a lot of money and don't really want to swap out non-faulty bits...

I have also put it on a workshops computer however no erros were registered..

appreciate all the advice...

my moneys on the leads and/or coil pack as i had the same problem.

is the shudder repetative?

You can get brand new coild for $100 for the I6... $60 for an oxygen sensor...

I would look at fuel Pump, when it starts cutting in and out pop the trunk and where the fuel pump sit's ( L/H inner corner ) bang the floor with your fist.

It should pick up it's rev's and run ok for a little while, If it is fuel pump related.

Thanks guys.. Will try the above tonight...

Its weird, someone sugested I disconnect the battery for an hour to reset the computer.. I did this and it had fixed it.. well I thought it had.. now the car will run up to about 45mins which no hassle.. then runs into problems.. intially it was doing it after about 10minutes like clockwork.. now its running a lot longer before the problem occurs?? any ideas still.. I've held off on the coil replacement..
