Default Streed Rod game early 90's era

My first video game was Street Rod on my dads 486, I found it in an old folder of emulators i had on my computer just tonight.

You buy a car from the paper and buy better parts, 351 V8, manifold, trans, carbs. Then drag or street race for cash.

Can get a thunderbird or fairlane 500 as well as a heap over other Chrysler/GM/Fords, music is a bit annoying but its still good fun.

I uploaded my copy here if you want to have a go http://www.filefactory.com/file/959b2f/ (scanned for virus's)

Might have some problems on computers due to 16 colours but runs alright for me.

Some more info/screenshots and a download here http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/...treet_rod.html

Cheers,

I used to love that game!
http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/old-...street-rod.php for SR1
http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/old-...reet-rod-2.php for SR2

In SR1, get a V6 with 3 2brl crbs, smokes all the stock V8s and you don't get any big V8 challengers...

Yup, still remember how to play it...
New computers will probably need dosbox.

this game was my life when i was growing up. who would have thought something so simple could provide so many hours of non stop entertainment. if i remember correctly there is 1 certain car that if you buy it you get unlimited money to spend on mods so you can turn an old heap into the fastest thing on the street.
congratulations on your find i'm sure so many more people will have fond memories of the game just as we do.

I think in SR1 it was the cheapest V8 you could get. buy it, take all parts out of it, and sell it for $20001. repeat for more dosh

Yeah, was a cool game for it's time, but is now not much more than a retro fad.

2 door styleline.
Only a 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed auto.

To find any old games, type in the name of the game in Google, followed by "abandonware".

Abandonia is a site with many good games including my two faves...Star Control II, and Dune II.

Abandonware is legal as the companies that made them no longer sell them.

Sierra and Lucasarts games are not abandonware however.

I remember my brother having this on the Amiga. Great game!
Was it SR1 or 2 that you couldn't get a blower for a Ford, only Tunnel Rams? From memory though you got the same amount of power as the Chevs with blowers.
I remember the aquaduct race, and a long winding road race also.
Edit: Thanks for the links aboringusername!, now to go back in time...

I used to play it all the time. The king drove a Blue Blown Shelby Cobra.
I used to bomb out on Mulholland Drive.
I downloaded it last night and got all excited but it wont go to full screen on my stupid puter so shuts down and wont load. Dammit!

SR2 only had fuel injection for the Fords, but was just as quick
Mulholland drive - I don't think I ever finished it - it would always hit something on the road and crash.
The bracket racing was OK. Giving someone 10 seconds head start on the quarter and passing them was cool.

Fitting a 4 speed helped as well - the 3 speed on upshifts would dump the revs down too far and it would think about accelerating for a few seconds.

Awesome! I've been looking for this game for ages! Used to have it on my old 486 and would play it flat out. Love the GT500 in SR2.
