Default cd/head unit question

Im going to buy a 2000 model AU Futura on monday, and it doesnt have the CD player but just the tape deck, was wondering if i bought a new CD tunter (aftermarket pioneer/apline or something) will the steering wheel controls be able to work for it? also do they make brackets or something like that for them as a normal aftermakret headunit is much smaller then the factory one (leaving a big hole) if so where can i buy one and does anyone have a photo of what it looks like in the car?

if these cant happen/arnt avialable is it possible jsut to connect a stacker to the facotry head unit?

Thanks

The output from the factory stereo's aint great, not crisp at all. You can buy a bracket for under $20 from Ford, but there will be a little gap in the middle where the 'pocket' tends to bend downward a little.

I don't believe the steering wheel controls will work, didn't for me (and it was installed by a tech), I may be wrong on that one though.

mate, get yourself an aftermarket headunit... you can get the buttons to still work.. you need to get something adapted to the headunit... ask the pro's they'll know all about it..

Stick an aftermarket unit in, the gap is minimal and not very noticeable.

As for the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket unit, you'll need one of these:

I got one and they work absolutely perfect. (I got mine from JB Hi-Fi, you'll probably have to get them to order it in as they generally don't have them in stock)
