Default I don't think i even need to drive the xr6T!!!

Hey everyone,

Interesting thing this. I had always seen the arguments for the xr8 over the xr6T ....you know the ones: Makes better noise etc etc.... and I thought what BS! I'd have the turbo............... until i drove the BA xr8 for the first time that is!!!!!!! (mk 2 6 speed manual, all options).

As i stated in the title of the thread i haven't driven the turbo yet (only na ba xr6), but everything I loved about the xr8 the turbo doesn't have - the sound mmm and THAT bulge!!! (that looks soooo good from the drivers seat) that's probably it LOL - buts its enough!!!!!!!!

As is widely known it was relatively not overly nimble BUT YOU JUST DON'T CARE!!!!
I know that at the end of the day i haven't driven the turbo yet but I cannot believe how much i enjoyed the xr8 i was very much soso until i drove it (although i obviously liked the look of it).
I am probably talking absolute babble here but as i said the things that i ended up enjoying the most about the xr8 were unexpected things and things that to some piont the turbo lacks.
I think xr8 owners will understand!!! (I hope) LOL.....

By the way my decision would be made harder if i had big mods planned for reasons that have been widely discussed.

If I had the money to get an XR8 I would have. But I didn't, so i'll just have to make do with an XR6T

Drive into a corner in an xr8 and stand on it mid way through and it'll step out and billow smoke from the back wheels as it lays 2 thick black lines, an xr6T will slide and squeel with tiny puffs of smoke if it's lucky. That the bluge and the glorious v8 sound just leaves no competition.

If it was up to me, i'd have the best of both world's in the garage. But yes, I know what you mean about that buldge/sound.

I remember taking an xr8 for a test drive last year. I was very close to getting it but the dealer wouldn't budge on the price. The bulge is the first thing you notice when you get in the car. Then you take off and you get that sound that only a v8 makes and you have a big grin on your face. When I eventually go to trade up its going to be a tuff choice between the turbo and the 8.

Well, I've said it before, if I wasn't a rep, and didn't clock up 1000-1500km a week I would have bought an XR8 (fuel = $$$$) so I know exactly what you mean. Having said that, the T's awesome fun to drive as well, and mods only make it more fun! hehe

The BA XR8 do sound good from inside and outside but the BF IMO sound like c r a p. The exhaust has been changed to comply with euro 3 and it's wreaked the sound.
BTW I drive a MK2 BA XR8 and a BF XR8 on a daily basis. Both 6sp manual.

hahah

Yeah the v8 makes an awesome sound, but the turbo makes awesome times, both are great cars. I was going to get a second hand xr8 a few weeks back, but preferred new cars for the warranty, so settled for a nA six again. All have their advantages and pitfalls, i mean mine doesn't have the same power or sound as a T or an 8, but i have better insurance and petrol costs.

In the end, i'll wind up with an xr8, until then..... GOD MY CAR IS BRIGHT.

I prefer the 8 over the T only coz i luv the sound of an 8 & i prefer to go for cubes over boost. But they are both great cars.
