Default Burnout

So,

I had my first little drag race up at my uncles in Kadina.

Starting burnouts my cousin rips this huge burnout in his LS1 wit ease.

I tried to spin them up for the first time and got nothing, zero, zilch.

Cousin told me foot on the brake, then hit the accelerator. Off the brake Then back on it. Then release the car down the strip then reverse back to the line.

I got 3000 rpm and nothing. Let go of the brake and still nothing.

A little help please, what am i doing wrong.

I AM NOT, interested in the big tyre melters, just heating tyres.

Thanks in advance

Try turning the traction control off first!

Oh man, you dont need to do a burnout at the drags if you are running standard road tyres... the heat created doing it usually slows your ET down due to heat soak (engine and trans)

but you really dont need to do much on the brakes just touch them a little, if you are in the water it will spin up pretty easy. my stock el ghia with lsd did this with ease..

Traction control was off, foot on brake accelerate, i get to 3000rpm then no more revs. In the wet its EASY however dry i get nothing.

Not a joke I was just pondering. I know the torquey part of the 260 isnt until 4000rpm but i dont get there.

(possibly releated issue, when in neutral it only goes to 3000 rpm also even with foot flat to the floor)

that's the limit that is set in neutral - lessens the damage done in d bombing by accident or otherwise.
you might just have sticky tyres. try some cheap shoddy tyres that will fix having traction. although why do you really want to do a smokey when not at the drags. lol

If you have a BA i'd say the ECU safety limit thingo is cutting in to stop you from doing burnouts.

Time to get a flash done on the ECU

How hard is your foot on the brake?
Dont push so hard on the brake...just enough to keep the car from movin...then put the boot in....xr8s CAN do standstills

My guess is this, if you dont have a flash tune and the torque tags removed, you will struggle to spin the tyres, my old BA XR8 with just boltons (240rwkw) could spin the tyres starting in second with full slicks.

My GT with plenty of supercharged power/ torque/ 4.11 diff gears was never too crash hot smoking the tyres at the drags. Maybe a brake thing??

Quiet possibly Paul, as it was definitely not short on power.
