Default Falcon or Commde or Skyline

ok guys task for yah

i am gettin paid from my smash and no i am not taking all u guys out for a massive drink up! i am only getting $3700 so that leaves me with a few options of rides

Falcon EB or EL
Commodes VS or VN
or the old R31 Skyline (i got a soft spot for this model).

of course u guys will be saying stay with E series i would if the right E came up but i want to have a broad veiw of cars.

I know of a few EL's goin cheap and they are Monts aswell i may end up in 1 or somthing else as i say give me a broad range

The VN is a very poor car (I don't care what you all say I have yet to be in a satisfactory one), VS a lot better engine however has a rather tacky interior.

If you get a ghia it comes with an XR6 engine so that's a nice bonus.

depends what you want the car for i guess.

the EL still looks nice inside unlike the holden counterpart and i suppose being a ford forum that's going to be the biased answer

Sorted the R31 Skyline never came with Turbos Holden took all of the RB30ETs for their hotshot Commondoore cept with the Imported R31 Coupe and Pillarless 4door they had 2.0liter six and turbo

yeh i tend to agree VNs are kinda crap overheating probs and such VS is nicer but higher kms on the dial the V6 would need a rebuilt at 400.000kms were as the Mighty Falcon dont i will see wat i dig up car wise keep the list goin

The only Commodores I'd consider owning would be the V8 versions. The Commodore V6 is complete rubbish. They are very rough and harsh compared to the Ford and have nowhere near the amount of torque. The R31s aren't bad though.

If you want a bit of power, there's plenty of R31's with turbo conversions for your budget. Have a look on www.r31skylineclub.com

Or a Commodore/Falcon. Of course everyone here is going to diss a Commodore, but in all reality they're all the bloody same at the end of the day!

The 31's are nice when done up, have an *ok* donk, and plenty of aftermarket bits. Woudn't go near a VN, a VS is OK but like has been said has a pretty bland interior and personally I don't like the way they handle. It'd be a choice between a nice 31 or EL Ghia

obviously i would go the falcon but if i couldnt find one of thoose the r31 would be my next bet, they can look good done right and the motor is far better then a dodgy 3.8 V6

Cheers

ok, the ultimate sin, A VR commodore, i don't love them or anything but i had a v6 in my old hilux ute, the motor had a stage 2 cam, and i got the auto box to change really really hard, it threw me sideways everywhere. Also, there seems to be heaps of bolt on mods for older commodores, more than fords anyhow.I think holden kept the same offset through there range so i guess wheels would be easier to get to. With the skyline, i personally prefer the r32 or r33.
Now let's see all these abusive reply's.

You seem to like the Skyline.

I'd say get that, if that's the car you like anything else will probably be a disappointment.

Assuming you've driven the other cars.

with the Falcon it was roomy, power(I6), it was perfect for long cruises

Commode was like a go kart, didnt do much steer work, less roomy, cop bait!

R31 i only drivin 1 and been in a few including a Turbo versions and a GTR, punches out nice power, real responsive, able to take a beating and still ask for more!

i mite aswell remove the Commode from the list

Th skyline has more potential being smaller and the addition of a suitable gearbox and turbo motor will provide substantual performance but if you have a family then a foulcan is the go...
although a turbo anything jap will go well...

the comordors will be " cop bait" but i muist say that a nive VT with good paint, lowered and nice rims looks"""OK""" nothing crazy but can look nice and clean.. you still have they semi ok interia. And the v6's really arnt that bad they go ok! sure they dont have as much power or torque as some of the ford range, but auto v's auto they will pull away off the line. they are geared better to 100 anyway
with that said
id go the r31 lol

Well, you'd hope so. They're the next generation, so the biggest competitor for the VT was the AU which (looks aside) is a good car.

You should be thinking which is good for fuel, in this day and age, which will hit the back pocket most? spare parts? cheap or pricey....

cheers
