Default blew my radiator today

i noticed that after fitting the xr6 hp engine ,the thermo's would come quite frequently.as in ,if i was in the maccas drive through and it was 10* outside they'd click on every 50 sec's (i was bored one night and timed it).
i thought it was stange ,it did it when it was just the standard hp and after putting the cam back in and j3.it was always loosing coolant out of the hose's , i'd asumed it was just those crappy hose clamps you use plyers to undo .
until today when i stopped to pick some gear up for work and noticed a big green puddle comming out from underneath it.
i checked all the hose's and none were leaking .i found the radiator had split along the bottom , the alloy core part not where the side are crimped over.
well after a bit of dicking around today ,trying to find out whats going on.i found out that a series 1 xr6 hp has a 92* thermostat in it,after i pulled it out .and that a standard au thermostat is 88*.also the xr6 stat has a 4mm hole in it to let the coolant through as oppsed to the little wiggly nipple thing on the standard one.
after fitting a new radiator ,cap and thermostat(88*) and giving it a radiator flush for good measure ,the thermo's havn't came on yet even after giving it a bit with the trailer on ???

very strange indeed,hopefuly problem solved.

common issue ... they all do it.

I still had overheating issues after replacing my entire cooling system ... so i used a band-aid fix and put a twin-core radiator in the ute ... work a charm ... runs a little cool off throttle in winter ... but when loaded up ... there was no creep on the gauge either.

I also hooked my A/C up for summer so that the thermos come on high speed as soon as I turn Fan speed 1 on too ... boy what a difference that made too.
