Default Best XR8 exhaust package?

It's finally time for me to get the exhaust that i have been longing for. I'm going for the whole thing from headers to exhaust tip. I'm really looking for that nice idling sound that is deep. But i don't want it roaring when i'm driving along unless i give it some. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I assume this is for a S3 XR8, all I did with mine was a twin 2 1/4 straight through, high flow mufflers, no resonator, sounds very good, no drone at any speed, that is on a manual though.
With an auto you may require a resonator, not sure on this.

As far as headers go many opinions on this, Pacemakers are a popular choice.

With the S3 XR8 I am of the opinion that the tickford headers are good enough if you are leaving the vehicle stock, they are a 4 into 1 design, good luck with it and let us all know how you go.

Being Based in Brisbane you would be crazy to go past RDP with their new exhaust shop, the quality looks out of this world from the pics and by all reports they sound and work extreamly well.

As for size and combinations as Sbutler said their is heaps of thread on it in the Tickford Section.

Find a car like yours with an exhaust sound that you like and ask him what hes had done. Most expensive doesnt always sound the best and do you just want a nice note or do you want to make maximum hp.Do you plan to do other mods that can effect your choice of exhaust? It depends on what you expect from the exhaust
