Default KE fuel guage

A friend has a KE Laser with a fuel guage problem. I think the problem is it reads all or nothing. I checked the fuel sender which looks okay. I'm not sure if it is the sender or the guage. Any ideas?

Could be wiring or poor earth. Sounds more like wiring as it either works or doesnt.

If you wiggle the sensor wiring near the guage does it kick back in for a bit?
