Default shift kits

hey guys i have one of the electronic shift kits in my car that taps into 2 wires at the ecu ( i dont like it )
in my last car my local auto shop tapped into 1 wire at the side of the gearbox and fitted a 0-25 ohm resitor pot and that was great i drove round with it on just alittle and when i wanted to have some fun wind it on a little more
so my question is what wire did thya tap into whats it called S5? or what colour?
