Ranger would be close to 1 if they could supply... Good work Ford.

Now stats on Falcon and Territory.

No, that stupidity can stay in the other thread.

1391 Falcons isnt too bad, considering in the first half of this year it was languishing around 1000 units (or less) per month.

Could it be that LPG sales have come up a bit or simply XR6 had a good month?

Following on with Mid Sized car news:
Quote:
LINK
Following the Camry in the medium class were two premium Germans – the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (658) and the BMW 3 Series (484) – with the Mazda6 (440) and the Ford Mondeo (419) the only other significant sellers
Ford Europe are shockers, we need to have Mondeo built here to control supply a bit better,
even if it's mostly with an affordable 2.5 I-4 power train from US Fusion, something to go with Camry...

Anyone have Holden and Faclon ute sales?

Also Territory:

Quote:
Mitsubishi shifted 1524 Outlander models, bettering the Nissan X-Trail (1498) and Toyota Prado (1257).
The Ford Territory (1227) remains a key sales success for the Blue Oval coming in fourth place ahead of
the Mazda CX-5, which surprisingly managed just 1190 sales.

Coupled with attractive pricing. $28,990 driveaway with 0% finance - makes cost of ownership on par with a class smaller.

Which really confirms what I have been thinking for a while - the larger cars are not suffering due to size, they are suffering due to pricing being dramatically higher than smaller cars.

Territory numbers seemed to have dropped off a bit over the last few months.. Is this because they can't build enough because of Falcon build numbers or is this a real drop off??

Would be interesting to see what happened if Ford did a 2 week campaign on Falcon Ecoboost XT for $28,990 drive away.... Sad part is they would not have enough stock to keep up with demand.

Falcon is holding up Territory..... They still need to build them in sync sadly. In saying that however there is a fair amount of stock around.

I'm not sure about the lesser models but trying to find a Turbo model for a test drive was a major pain in the **** for me in Sydney, hell most dealers had no stock at all and had to order them in from someplace else ... seemed all really weird to me considering its an Australian made car!!!

I would love to see that, even if it meant eating margins just to pump some volume into the nameplate. Sales appear to breed sales, the more cars you have on the road and in driveways the more word of mouth sales you gather.

Also gives the 2014 Falcon some good momentum with having a larger owner base ready to trade up to the new model.

Would Falcon sales be better if they had a conventional wagon ??
Holden will have the Sportswagon in the VF. sales must be there to keep building it ??????

?? VF wagon will be exactly the same as VE from the A pillar back. It will basically just have a new bonnet and front bumper and headlights. Hardly much of an investment - consider that Ford on the other hand would have a much larger investment in designing an FG-based wagon.

Sportswagon this, Sportswagon that. Ford would be better off bringing out an XR-style Territory to build volume on an already strong seller in a growth market segment, not a shrinking one.

A better idea for the Falcon would be to start being more realistic with pricing for the XT Ecoboost for example. No one in their right mind is going to pay $37-odd grand RRP for a 4cyl base spec car. Sure no one pays full retail anyway, but to the average punter who looks online would be instantly put off.

That's a good point you raise. How does the Falcon fare with other 'larger' 4cyl cars in a cost comparison? The Camry with it's 29k 'drive away' pricing is making a killing, has Ford got any 'drive away' deals with its base models?

I think people are more inclined to look into buying when they know a real ballpark figure for a car prior to sitting down to nut out a deal.

No one I know has ever paid RRP on a new car so would a lower (but more firm) starting price get more people through the door??

Most new car reviews also always have a value component included. A lower RRP would be a positive when compared to other models in a review.

A decent base model price gets people in the door, even with the deal on the base model Altise, Toyota are seeing a 20% increase in the proportion of people buying higher range Camrys this year. So the 28,990 Altise gets them in, but many end up buying a more expensive Atara.

The base Falcon XT is worthless, it offers nothing to get people through the door. It simply drags down the image of the rest of the Falcon range without contributing anything. A $29,990 base price would see it pull its weight.

With FG being over 4 years old now they should have a fair amount of the original R & D repaid which makes me think at $28,990 for an ecoboost they should be able to break even. The sad part is however the I6 is probably cheaper then the Ecoboost!!!

Either way I'm sick of them gutsing XR6 for $32,990 and still wanting $37,990 for XT's!!! its ridiculous! XT has to be cheaper to manufacture then XR6!!

Ford hasn’t dropped the price of the XR6 below the 37K mark all year! This is a huge change from prior years & I like it! Although I do agree, they could push the XT pricing harder. I say around the 30-ish mark drive away.
