Default Disheartened....

Ever since I got my new wheels put on the ute, it feels (although this could be mind games here) a bit flat. When the EL XR wheels were on it, it felt like it had more pep to it.

So, consider this a "Help with more power" thread.

The current mods I have planned are:

Pacemaker Comp headers - As soon as I find out that they can go with aftermarket gas, they're on.
New 2 1/2" exhaust system
Unichip

My goal at the moment is 150rwkw. If those planned mods don't give that sort of power, what else should I add to that list?

Are the wheels bigger rolling radius? Has it overgeared the car a bit?

What tyres sizes did you go to and from?

That could make it feel flat.

Also more grip can make it feel slower in that it doesnt lose traction like it used to. i know my Yoko ES100's never chirp or squeal like the goodyears I had and its because they hang on better of course but it does give the impression the car is less lively.

The tyres went from 225/55 R16 to 235/45 R17.

The wheels are likely heavier as well.

Maybe a diff gear change will make it feel a bit faster.
You might need to add a cam to that list to make 150.

No thats too small a difference less than 2% in rolling circumference in the tyres and the difference in weight of the wheels in a car as heavy as a Ford should be too small to be noticeable.

All i can think of is a change in road noise between the two tyres giving the impression its slower.

Have you tried racing with different wheels? I changed from 17's to 14's and my car went a few tenths quicker. The weight as well as the slightly different gearing makes a fair bit of difference.

The diff in it already *should* be a 3:23-1. That may have changed cause the dipsh*t who owned it before me changed alot of things back to EL spec... Rear leaf springs from a wagon, wheels, uh, there are other things that make me mad each time I mention them.
