Comparisons are easier to do than that. All you need is the beofre and after dyno runs and compare the % improvement throughout the rev range not necessarilyy just the peak. The actual no's will vary on different cars and dyno's but the improvement in what part of the rev range is the thing you could compare.

Some of the old ones were Di Fillipo exhausts

However, in saying that some of the Di Fillipo products are excellent

In the case of the vct 6, they are not, sorry no Dyno runs to back my claim

Jonbays I do understand what you are saying and this is true enough to a point, however each engine regardless of tune reacts differently. What Im saying is that you can only truely compare products in this way.

And Minge I could be wrong but to the best of my knowledge I think they still do make them (for herrods), and yes as their primaries are larger they would definitly i think work better on engines that need this.

I thought the paternership had ended well over 8 months ago and Rob was now using a new supplier

Now if in the last 3 months there has been a change I am not too sure, driving a Kluger around has no real need for Herrod Enhancements, appart from minor brain surgery, but thats another issue

Well, I'm not going to argue for one or the other. Simple fact for me was the VCT did NOT respond to "normal" headers....there were MANY people who tried and failed. The VCT DID respond to the JMM headers... dramatically. I found this, other VCT owners since have found this and now Laminge has found this.
As for as the VCT I6 goes, theres no-one I know who will dispute that the JMM headers are the ideal system for it.

I'll speak from experience here. I had the Pacemaker Comp. series on my VCT I6 car and they seemed to work well. They were on there for a few months, and by reading this forum, I put on a set of JMM Streetfighter headers (they use them on all DEV kits now) and to be honest, haven't noticed many benefits over the Pacies. I'll put it on the same dyno I used on my last excercise and post the results.

Nope. Would have like to but they didnt want to tell me anything about them, just said the usual stuff.
In the end though, I doubt they could be any better than the JMM's so I'll stick to my original statement that the JMM Race Headers are the ideal match for the VCT.

The streetfighter headers are not the same as the JMM Race headers. A true comparison would be the Pacy comps vs JMM Race headers. Still, I'll be interested to see the outcome.

I have seen it done on a non-vct I6. I do not have access to the dyno sheet though, as it was not my car. Overall power difference was minimal.

Yeah, I cant comment on non VCT as they seem to react different. I know of quite a few non VCT I6's that have seen some improvement from all sorts of headers. Problem is that these same headers have recorded no gains (and even some losses from the std manifold) on the VCT engine. Its a whole different animal.

Minge Im going off what i was told by someone who also supplies and fits them, and knows both of them to boot, however in saying this it was told to me about 2-3 months ago lol.

Casper - as you know, I've hadboth (VCT and non-VCT). The Pacies on the VCT felt good (bum-o-meter), but the dyno showed that against another 1998 model AU1 auto, galaxy blue, full body kit, bi-plane spoilered, 17" wheeled, VCT XR6 with similar kms, I lost 2 rwkw, but gained between 5 and 10% torque (can't remember the exact figure, but I think it was 50Nm more than in the stock VCT 6). While that comparison was between 2 different cars, it should still be relevant. One was absolutely stock, the other (mine) had Paccies and 2.5" cats back. To me, the loss of power was of no great concern as the increase in torque makes up for it in take-off, acceleration etc.

So, the paccies (4499s, at least) are a bit of a dud for those chasing max power.

On my AU2 wagon, on the other hand, these same Paccies (along with redback 2.5" cat back system) have dropped around 1 sec off 0-100 times. So they are worth something on the non-VCT I6s.

The off boost response in my AU6 has improved with the 3 inch mandrel bend exhaust, straight though fibreglass packed muffler and cut/welded commodore cat, but I guess you would expect that???

fair enough, i don't think they'd be better then the JMM one anyway.
my guess is each has their advantages.

But what extractors are you using? Pacemaker or JMM? LOL.

Yes, hence my "LOL" at the end. I guess what I was getting at (subtley, but not any more), was the point of the post when the thread is about extractors. Obviously a turbo setup makes extractors redundant.

i've only ever had the Pacemaker 4480's on my car, so i really don't know what the JMM Race series would do.
don't plan on trying them either :P

So far it seems that the JMM race series are the go for the VCT, good to know as this is the next step for me and a step that isnt too far away seeing as how this exhaust is on its way to the heap.

Well keep us info'd big fella on your opinion so far of the system, seeing as how you would have had most of the weekend to trial it.
