Street Machine did an article on them a while back, they run an impressive operation, the engines were recoed to better tolerances than when they were new, they can even do you a stage 1 performance package for a little extra.

This company has been around for a long time, are located in chipping norton. One of, if not the largest engine reconditioning companies in Australia with a very good reputation.I personally would have no hesitation in using them.
Check out there web sit at www.hmgem.com.au

I bought a HM GEM for my datsun. The head went after about 5000 K's. That was probably my fault for the way I drove it. I took it to my mechanic, he had it fixed under warranty. They said that the head had been recoed too many times so, I got a brand new one. I was pretty impressed with that. The engine then took a very good thrashing for quite some time. I'd probably go them again. In fact, I wish I had when my engine died.

Not sure if this helps or hinders, but Holden use GEM to "remanufacture" GenIII engines for warranty exchanges. Basically GEM get warranty engines (usually piston slap, oil consumption, etc) and rebuild them. Holden then replace other warranty claims with these engines. Holden won't tell you this, but it's basically common knowledge. I personally saw the GEM doco for my exchange engine in by SV8 ... mines done 10,000km and is going OK now .. after initial high oil consumption and replacement of rear mail and sump gasket.

Rod.
